Dear Community Leaders and Members of Anne Arundel County,
Tomorrow, Thursday, May 18, the County Council will host its last public hearing on the proposed FY24 budget at 7:00 pm at Crofton High School. We encourage your active engagement to ensure the final adopted FY24 budget reflects our shared commitment to funding our future.
The Office of Planning and Zoning has posted its first annual progress reports on implementing Plan2040 and the Green Infrastructure Master Plan. An additional 840 acres of land have been conserved in the Green Infrastructure Network. This is significant progress toward conserving an additional 5,000 acres of land in the Network by 2030, representing 30% of the County land area.
Finally, I want to highlight that applications for the Stakeholder Advisory Committees for regions 1, 3, and 9 have launched today. Individuals interested in serving on the second round of Region Plan Stakeholder Advisory Committees may visit aacounty.org/regionplans to get started.

Anne Arundel County Launches Stakeholder Advisory Committee Applications for Regions 1, 3, 9 | |
|
County Executive Steuart Pittman and the Office of Planning and Zoning announced the launch of applications for individuals interested in serving on the second round of Region Plan Stakeholder Advisory Committees (SACs) covering Regions 1, 3 and 9.
“Stakeholder Advisory Committees ensure that residents and business owners have a say in the future of their communities” said County Executive Steuart Pittman. “I look forward to their leadership as we continue through the region planning process.”

Anne Arundel County Announces Partnership with Bird to Promote Sustainable Commuting on Bike to Work Day | |

On Thursday, Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman and Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley will arrive by bike or scooter at 8:00 am at Susan B. Campbell Park near Annapolis City Dock to welcome cyclists participating in the annual Bike to Work Day event. The County Executive and Mayor will ride to the park to celebrate the day and announce the county’s new partnership with Bird, to bring e-bikes and e-scooters to more locations in the county.

Anne Arundel County Releases Draft Zoning Maps, Zoning Change Applications For Regions 2, 4, 7 | |

County Executive Pittman and the Office of Planning and Zoning (OPZ) invite the public to review the draft updated zoning maps for Regions 2, 4 and 7. Property owners can also apply for zoning changes until June 1, 2023.
“Land use and zoning are important aspects of ensuring smart development and building a more equitable and sustainable future,” said County Executive Pittman. “I strongly encourage the public to take part in this opportunity to have a say in the future of their communities.”
Areas under zoning review include:
- Region 2 includes the west County communities of Jessup, Annapolis Junction, Laurel, Maryland City, parts of Hanover, the Patuxent Research Refuge, and Fort George G. Meade.
- Region 4 covers the Broadneck peninsula and the Lake Shore peninsula, and includes the communities of Pasadena, Gibson Island, Severna Park, Arnold, Cape St. Claire, and Broadneck.
- Region 7 includes the communities of Greater Annapolis, Parole, Riva, Annapolis Neck, Bay Ridge, and Highland Beach.

Department of Aging and Disabilities Announces Call for Artists for the 2023 Artists Without Limits Exhibit | |

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities, the Anne Arundel County Commission on Disability Issues (CODI), and the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County announce a call for artists for the 2023 Artists Without Limits Art Exhibit. Submissions are open to Anne Arundel County residents of all ages with disabilities. Entries must have a maximum of 24 inches in all directions.
The deadline for entries is Monday, May 22, 2023. Interested artists can submit an online application here. For more information, please contact the CODI by calling 410-222-4383 or sending an email to Vickie Martin at [email protected].

The Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management and the Anne Arundel Community College are hosting HERricane, a summer camp program dedicated to developing and elevating women as leaders in emergency management. This free week-long camp raises awareness of the emergency management profession and related fields by providing lectures, hands-on activities, and certifications for girls ages 16-22.
The camp will be held the week of July 10-14, 2023, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at the following locations:
- Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management in Glen Burnie
- Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold.

AACPS Comprehensive Redistricting Process
Comments accepted through May 31, 2023
An interactive web tool is available online for members of the public to review and comment on a pair of potential redistricting scenarios developed in the first phase of a comprehensive redistricting initiative that will span the next three years.
Users can see school assignments for their residence and how they may be impacted in either scenario. A dropdown in the upper right corner allows users to translate the entire page into Spanish.

The Office of Planning and Zoning (OPZ) has created interactive online Feedback Maps for Regions 1, 3, and 9. Access the digital maps, where you can identify places you love and places you'd like to see improved in Regions 1, 3, and 9.

Busch Annapolis Library to access free resources! 90% of U.S. Foundations don’t have websites, but you can find information about these funders with Foundation Directory Online Professional, a fundraising database where nonprofits can find potential funders targeted to their project areas. Or search Grants to Individuals, a database with information on more than 10,000 foundations that give grants or scholarships to individuals. As a Funding Information Network partner, the library offers quarterly events about grants and nonprofits.
