Dear Community Leaders and Members of Anne Arundel County,

If you could not join us last week and missed the live stream of the 5th Annual Michelle Obama Awards, or you would like to relive the moment, we have a summary of the event below with links to photos and the program recording.

Our Office of Transportation is proud to announce the launch of the Pingo app for Call N Ride users in South County. The app is an easy way to book an on-demand bus within the South County area. You can find additional details and a link to download the app by scrolling down.

To conclude my highlights, I'd like to share the return of Shred-A-Rama on May 6th from 9:00 am-noon. I know many expressed disappointment in the cancellation of last week's shred event due to bad weather, but here is another excellent opportunity. Please take a look below for locations and additional details.

Sincerely,

Vincent Moulden

County Executive Pittman and Caucus of African American Leaders Honor 14 Trailblazing Women

“The fact that 78% of the county workforce is led by women department directors speaks to the true impact of women in our county,” said County Executive Pittman. “It is an honor to recognize these changemakers doing the work in our communities, and to hear their stories.”

The awards program occurs annually during Women’s History Month to recognize women who have had a tremendous impact in Anne Arundel County. It is named after former First Lady Michelle Obama, who advocates for poverty awareness, education, nutrition, health, and wellness; and serves as a role model for women.

This year’s theme was “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.” CAAL member and local activist Delorma “Dee” Goodwyn emceed the ceremony, and former Anne Arundel County Executive Janet Owens provided the keynote address regarding her service as the first woman to hold the office.
