Dear Community Leaders and Members of Anne Arundel County,

The County Executive was pleased to announce this week that we have maintained our Triple AAA Bond Rating, which helps us ensure that we deliver services at the lowest possible cost to the taxpayer. You can read the full announcement below.

We had a great time at our first Chromebook Giveaway with our hosts Church of God Lothian. To view the remaining giveaway events, you can go to aacounty.org/chromebooks or aacpl.net/chromebooks

Lastly, we continue to work with our partners in local, state, and federal government to provide relief for the victims and families affected by the Key Bridge Disaster. If you or someone who knows employment has been affected, our Workforce Development team has created a website with resources available here. For general updates on the clean-up efforts or additional resources, you can visit www.keybridgeresponse2024.com

County Executive Steuart Pittman announced that for only the second time in county history, Anne Arundel County received a triple-A rating with all three credit rating agencies – Fitch, Moody’s, and Standard and Poor’s (S & P).

“The ratings agencies confirmed what we already know - we’ve succeeded at investing in our future while remaining fiscally responsible in our present,” said County Executive Pittman.

See the Impact Department Work Has on Our Community

Did you know that in addition to having eight Senior Activity Centers across Anne Arundel County, the Department of Aging and Disabilities provides older adults, age 65 and older, with support so that they can remain longer in their homes? The Senior Care Program allows up to 300 individuals to remain in their homes with care at the same annual cost for six individuals to live in a nursing facility. Since FY 2020, there has been a 6.9% increase in the average number of months an individual remains in their home from 43.4 months in FY 2020 to 46.4 months in FY 2023.

You can see this, and all the other great work Aging & Disabilities and the other departments are doing, by visiting Department Performance on OpenArundel. If you have any questions or want to know more, contact [email protected].

Applications are now live for Year Two of the first-in-the-nation Maryland Corps/Service Year Option Program that begins on September 11, 2024 and ends in the Summer of 2025.

This program provides full-time service opportunities to Marylanders of all ages. For their service, they receive $15/hour, professional development, mentoring and more. Additionally, those who successfully complete the program receive a $6,000 Program Completion Award in the form of a contribution to a Maryland 529 Account or cash stipend.
