The CDLC Member Showcase is Friday, September 28 at Maria College in Albany!  Register or consider presenting.
An Update from the Director
Dear CDLC Members and Supporters,

As you make plans for the Fall, take a few minutes to review the CDLC web site and our calendar which is filling up with committee and interest group meetings, as well as a variety of workshops, webinars and programs. We hope to see you soon!
Local Connections
Become involved with CDLC!

Join a Committee: we have several vacant seats for our Collection Development, Regional Automation and Resource Sharing committees.

Become Active with an Interest Group: Read about the individual groups and join us for a meeting.

Share Your Expertise: We are seeking presenters for programs and workshops.

REMINDER:
The Library Is Open: Academic Libraries Conference 2018  is October 11 and 12 in Ithaca and CDLC is offering to waive the registration fee for one person per member institution. Members are responsible for additional costs and travel arrangements and agree to participate in a follow-up discussion about the conference. If interested, please complete the  request form.
Shared Collections
Members are busy contributing to New York Heritage! Recently added digital collections include:

Voorheesville Public Library Military Memories & Veterans' Voices program shares stories from local military personnel who had been interviewed by young people from their community.

Union College published Butler Family Papers as well as the Hiram S. Wilson Civil War Letters. Both collections consist primarily of letters written during the Civil War period.
miSci, the Museum of Innovation and Science, has published General Electric Audio Recordings.

REQUEST: Has your library produced  oral histories? Please let us know. Working with our committees, we will be exploring how to make these resources more visible.
SAVE THE DATE:  On Tuesday, November 28, CDLC and the Questar III School Library System are collaborating once again to present a symposium on Preparing Students for College Level Research. The focus will be to give teachers and librarians resources and ideas to help current students prepare for the rigors of research in the college setting.
For some light reading :) : The Atlas of New Librarianship Online by R. David Lankes is freely available for download via Creative Commons.

REMINDER: CDLC, in partnership with the public and school library systems, is working with local PBS station WMHT to promote and share information about their Great American Read project.

Blockchaining?: This term is new to me but apparently has been around for awhile! Read more about it and even attend a conference
FINALLY: Be on the lookout for our member satisfaction survey this Fall. How are we doing? What can we be doing for you to get the most out of your CDLC membership? We want to hear from you!
On behalf of the CDLC staff, we wish you best wishes for the Fall.  Your comments and suggestions are always welcome!

Kind Regards,
