March 3, 2021
To Our District 67 Families,

Last week, District 67 Board of Education President Justin Engelland shared the following message regarding the possibility of expanding in-person offerings for our students following Spring Break:

“Given the desire for full in-person learning being expressed within the community, the Board requested that the Administration survey the community to assess interest in the alternatives and tolerance for potential trade-offs in order to develop a detailed plan for consideration at our upcoming March 16 meeting.”

In response to this Board request, the District 67 Administration team collaborated to create a survey, which was sent to parents last Thursday. The results of the survey can be viewed here.

The results of the survey indicate a strong desire for full-day in-person learning. In order to draft a potential plan for the Board to consider on March 16, the following timeline has been developed:

  • March 3: Survey results shared with staff and community

  • March 3: Administration gathers logistical information about risk mitigation, capacity, staffing, scheduling, and technology – starts drafting plan

  • March 4: Metrics Committee meets to discuss safety measure

  • March 9: 2021-22 Planning Committee shares input on plan draft

  • March 11: Administration shares plan with staff

  • March 12: Administration meets with staff about plan, provides survey on plan for feedback

  • March 16: Plan presented at Board of Education meeting

To those who took the time to participate in this survey, thank you.

Sincerely,
Michael V. Simeck
Superintendent
