Dear John Knox Church,

Over the last couple of months, we've been hard at work searching for and interviewing candidates to serve our church during this season of pastoral transition. We are excited to announce Rev. Dr. Ewen Holmes will be coming to John Knox to serve as our Bridge Interim Pastor beginning January 1, 2026. Ewen has over 40 years of experience in pastoral ministry, including several stints as a transitional minister at churches around the country. Several of you might be asking the question, What is a 'Bridge Interim Pastor'? This is a short-term (typically, 3-6 months) contracted pastoral position for churches in transition. We decided to search specifically for a Bridge Interim Pastor because Carter will be taking an extended period of time off for paternity leave next year. We felt that securing a Bridge Interim in the short-term was important for our church to continue the strong season of life and ministry we're experiencing. Ewen will be working full-time at the church and has agreed to a 3-month contract, which is renewable monthly.

As Ewen begins his time at John Knox, we, the Transition Team, will continue searching for a Transitional Pastor for the church. The Transitional Pastor, we expect, will see John Knox through the remainder of our church's transitional period until we call our next Senior Pastor.

Please know that Ewen has expressed an excitement to step back into pastoral ministry, and we believe he will serve John Knox wonderfully in these early months of our church's transition! We will continue to update you on our work on behalf of the congregation, and we are looking forward to the gifts Ewen will share with our church.
