May 8, 2023
To the Pace Community:
With the federal government’s planned ending of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Declaration scheduled for May 11, 2023, the University is adjusting its COVID-19 guidance as of that date. Changes include:

  • Vaccination: The COVID-19 vaccine mandate will no longer be in effect, and proof of vaccination will no longer need to be submitted for students and employees. We strongly recommend that all community members continue to follow CDC guidelines for vaccination, which recommend that everyone be up to date with flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines including booster doses. For students, New York State immunization requirements remain in place for MMR and meningitis.

  • Masking: Masks will now be optional in the Pace Counseling Center and for well-care visits to University Health Care on both the New York City and Westchester campuses. Individuals with upper respiratory symptoms should continue to mask. Pace University remains a mask-friendly community where mask use is always encouraged and supported. Community members are encouraged to follow community guidance on indoor masking, which is predicated on community transmission levels.

Please also note there may be additional vaccine or mask requirements for those in clinical placements or clinical research settings.

We continue to ask community members to take precautions and to stay home if they feel unwell or isolate if they test positive for COVID-19 in accordance with the CDC guidelines

Your health and safety are of utmost priority for Pace. Therefore, Pace’s Public Health Taskforce will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and communicate changes with the Pace Community.

As we make this transition, we want to share our deepest thanks for your perseverance, commitment to safety, and dedication to each other throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sincerely,
Brian Anderson, MPH, CSP
Executive Director, Emergency Management
