Micron Community Engagement Committee

On Friday, April 28, 2023, Governor Kathy Hochul and Micron Technology, Inc. announced the members of the Micron Community Engagement Committee, including representatives from Central New York and Micron that will support the company's community investment strategy.
InterFaith Works New American Job Coaches Zachary Osolo, Mohamed Thiam, and incoming Board chair Myrna Koldin attended the event at the OnCenter. Micron offers a historic planned investment of $100 billion over 20 years to construct a new chip plant in Clay, New York, which is expected to create nearly 50,000 New York jobs in the region. "We want to make Micron not just a great place to work, but also we want to make Clay and the surrounding communities a great place to live”, said Micron President and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra.
As the region prepares to welcome Micron, the Community Engagement Committee will oversee the local concerns and needs of the Central New York Community and engage diverse partners, including colleges and universities. Interfaith Works is dedicated to becoming an active partner with the Micron project to provide a new generation of workers that will meet the inevitable demand for various employment opportunities. We strive to provide workforce solutions for the economic vitality of Central New York with our Office for New Americans and Professional Pathways for High-Skilled Immigrants. This program is also supported by Governor Hochul with $4.38 million in state-funded grants awarded to community-based organizations supporting professional training and job placement efforts for the rapidly increasing number of skilled New Americans. Orange Pulse Dance Troupe Donates to InterFaith Works
|

|
Orange Pulse Dance Troupe, a non-profit organization through Syracuse University, annually chooses a charitable organization as the beneficiary of their annual fundraising efforts. The troupe held its annual the Spring Showcase this year on April 23. IFW was suggested by Isabel Perlin, who was an IFW intern in the fall of 2022. She helped out with the Taking Action Against Racism Dialogue program and was also assigned to various projects for the Center for New Americans.
Orange Pulse had a fundraising goal of $1,500 for this year’s efforts, and they raised $2,326! On behalf of all those we serve, InterFaith Works thanks you.

The “Duck Race” Fun Run is new to InterFaith Works' United We End Racism, which will be held on Saturday, June 3, at Syracuse's Inner Harbor. Instead of racing ducks down the creek, which is unavailable due to construction, we invite youths aged 5 to 14 to participate in the first-ever Duck Race Fun Run, a half-mile course along the Onondaga Creekwalk.
All participants will receive a small prize and a raffle ticket to bid on larger community prizes, such as gift cards and local goods.
Pre-registration is requested! Teachers or youth group leaders are welcome to register your class or group, or caregivers can register their children.
Sponsor a Kid for the Fun Run!
For every $5 you give to Sponsor a Kid, you will receive tickets at the event to bid on local prizes.
