I am getting married this upcoming Friday! Omer, my future husband is also in the Air Force, still in service. We first met more than eight years ago at the flight academy :) We are having a small family wedding in Cyprus, I'll send you pictures after we return to Israel...
Other than that not much is new, I am in my second year studying neuroscience in Tel Aviv university.
I miss you all, and I think about the amazing and important trip to your community very often! Please send my regards to everyone!

Shay Gold - 2008 Delegation

I got released out of the army in August 2008 after 4 and a half years of serving, I was a vice company commander at Shimshon battalion in my last position.
I traveled around South America for 8 months and returned home straight to Ben Gurion University, and now after 4 years, I'm about to finish my B.A studies in Political Science & Management - finally!
I also have a music band, I'm singing and playing on keyboards and guitar. We play in English & Hebrew. I work at Intel, Qiryat Gat in the Security Command Center and also instruct young adolescents in an organization name "Aharai!" (means: follow me/come after me).
That's the most important thing in my life I guess because I am helping youngsters to understand the military system and be more prepared, physically and mentally, for meaningful service! I guess I'm continuing that way my duty service, alongside reserves of course...
I was glad that you had the chance of having Nir at Tzahal Shalom he's a good friend of mine, we were officers together and we still meet when we can.
Please send everyone my love especially to my second family - the awesome Finkelsteins!
Yours sincerely, Shay

Adi Sorek - 2006 Delegation

Hello Northern Westchester,
After the delegation, I received command over a new type of ship.
I went on to become an instructor in the academy for 2 years during which Iwas chosen as the exceptional officer in 2009 and got promoted to the rank of Captain. After my navy service was over, I traveled to South America for 6 months (including Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Chile and Mexico) and came for a short visit to NYC for Dana's Bat-Mitzvah. Today I'm in my 3rd year of Tel Aviv University where I major in Law and Accounting.
I was selected for KPMG'S excellence program as well as to one of israel's biggest law firms. I reside in Tel Aviv with my girlfriend and still get called for one month of reserve duty every year.

Hi!
Well, I just got back to the service after 5 months of physiotherapy and supposed to be ranked as a Major in 6 weeks (I promise to send pics).
I am still wondering if I should stay in the service or not, studying for the GMAT exam in case I decide to study my master in business management next year.
Doing well, no wedding in sight, take care!
By the way, I didn't get back to my battalion.
I am in a unit that trains the reserve corps in Ze'elim in southern Israel.

Roy Ludmir - 2009 Delegation
|
Shalom, I was part of the 2009 "Tzahal Shalom" delegation. I was hosted by the Jacobs Family: Paul, Linda, Ride, Kyle and Andrew and had a fabulous time with them (I am still in touch with them). I ended my army service on March 2010 as a Second Commanding Officer of the anti tank missiles company (a special force of the "nahal" infantry brigade) as a Lieutenant.
After finishing my army service I traveled in Africa with my girlfriend and volunteered in Ethiopia in an orphanage with kids who are HIV positive. For the past three years, I have been living in Tel Aviv with my girlfriend, studying a double major in economics and middle east studies at Tel Aviv University.
I'm the CEO & Founder of "Chiron", a "hi-tech" start up in the field of IT security. That's about it. I'm proud and happy to be part of the "Tzahal Shalom" family.
Sincerely yours, Roy Ludmir

I'm glad to hear from you. We were busy last week. It was Shlomit's birthday and we have new born named Ya'eli. She is one week old and she is beauty!!! All of us feel well and we are at home.
Beside this major event, everything is the same. I will finish law school at July, and I'll return to full service after that. If nothing goes wrong, we deploy to US to practice with USAF at the end of July.
So how are guys? I will try to send you some pictures.
Love you, Butbul Family

Nimrod Gross - 2007 Delegation

In short time I have left Northern Westchester I have done 2 company commander jobs in the regular army infantry fours Golany Brigade. Then I left the army for almost 2 years until 2 years ago. My unit wanted me to come back to be a company commander so I came back to the special forces. I got married to Adi 3 years ago and we have got now a beautiful baby girl named Ela. She is three months old now. I am learning now in the University of Haifa economics and the history of the middle east. That is 3 years BA and I am still in the first year. After that I ought to the army two more years and then Elohim Gadol, I will see.
This is a great time for me... for the first time in my life I have some time for myself and my family. I still don't sleep a lot and do a lot of stuff some for my family and for me and some as I am not allowed to work because I am still in the army . It is strange that for me to be a student is called freedom and for me it is strange but good to be a student at the age of 30 I hope it's ok. Sorry about my English, Love, Nimrod Gross

Regarding my service, I am still working at my
IDF job (As procurement Officer).
I will be transferring to a new position (In a different department) in about five months from now.
I don't know yet what will be the new position, but once I will know you will be the first to know.
Second update:
I was chosen, out of 60 other officers, (along with 15 other officers) to an excellence program called "Everest" (like the Mountain...)
It's a program of one year, during this year we have lots of activities and studies that related to leadership and management.
