Dear Caldwell Families,

We learned Wednesday morning of new quarantine protocols issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). After consulting with our medical team, we have adjusted Caldwell's health and safety guidelines.

The CDC added a second recommended quarantine length for individuals exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. While the initial 14-day quarantine remains the best way to reduce risk of virus spread, the agency has added a shorter quarantine period. The new recommendation allows people who have come in contact with someone infected with the virus to resume normal activity after 10 days, or seven days if they receive a negative test result.

In response to this development, Caldwell's policy for individuals exposed to someone with a positive COVID-19 test will require a 10-day quarantine. Individuals in quarantine should carefully monitor their health for COVID-19 symptoms. They may return to campus after they are symptom-free for 10 full days.

Alternatively, an individual may return to campus seven full days after the exposure if they are symptom-free and receive a negative COVID-19 result on a test administered sometime between day six and day seven of their quarantine.

Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 and those exposed to someone who has tested positive should contact their healthcare provider with any questions regarding their readiness to return to campus.

Please continue to monitor your child's health and use the Magnus Health app each school day before reporting to campus. The CDC website contains updated information about the virus and how you can protect yourself and your family. This CDC article provides information specific to when to quarantine. Caldwell's Health and Safety page hosts a repository of school-specific data.

Thank you for your adherence to our guidelines. We give thanks to God for the safety our community enjoys. Let us continue to pray for those affected by the virus and for the Lord's continued guidance and provision.

Respectfully,
Tim Holland
