local residents need your help

Dear Friends,

Our Transylvania County local residents need your help. Lake Toxaway Charities has had significant financial requests this past week from our local food banks and home health care, medical prescription providers, and K-12 school system for immediate support to feed our local, less fortunate, residents as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Lake Toxaway Charities is stepping up and responding with this financial help. It will not be a short term need, most likely, the need will be for months, not weeks. The needs in our beloved community are great.

Lake Toxaway Charities is taking

Providing assistance to the food insecure school-aged children of Transylvania County

Over 80% of Transylvania County students qualify and are provided 2 meals a day by our schools. Over 1600 meals are currently being home delivered by school buses or available to pick up at our schools as of March 18th. Lake Toxaway Charities is delivering a large check on March 23rd to assist with the funding of shelf stable entrees and fresh produce for several weeks..

God's Way Food Pantry

The Sharing House

MedAssist

God’s Way Food Bank in Balsam Grove anticipates the need to double its weekly meal supply for several weeks as of March 21st. Lake Toxaway Charities has approved immediate funding to assist their efforts through June 1st.

The Sharing House in Brevard is doubling its weekly distribution of canned food, produce, and home health care products. Lake Toxaway Charities has approved immediate funding to meet this need through June 1st.

MedAssist in Transylvania County is immediately reallocating Lake Toxaway funding to provide medication for those residents who cannot afford it. Lake Toxaway Charities approved this request March 18th.

Lake Toxaway Charities has been a community leader for over 40 years in helping the hungry, homeless, abused persons, and the medically and educationally deprived.

Lake Toxaway Charities is “stepping up” and giving back quickly with focus on food, shelter, and prescription drug needs.
