Browne, La Bruja, and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe Slam Team perform with legendary hip hop stars at NJPAC for the 2024 Dodge Poetry Festival. At the Zimmerli Art Museum, Smoke & Mirrors features work about accessibility by artists with disabilities. State of the Arts meets curator Amanda Cachia and artist Finnegan Shannon. And at JCAST, the Jersey City Art & Studio Tour, muralist and painter Lawrence Ciarallo reflects on how the city's rapid changes impact the artists who call it home.

This month, we're sharing stories of gratitude, community, and inclusiveness from State of the Arts archives.


See how People and Stories/Gente y Cuentos uses short stories to change lives. The program hosts sessions in prisons, with youth, and with senior citizens. Based in Trenton, People and Stories, which began in 1972, now operates throughout North America.
