June 2019
President's Message

Dear Providence friends and supporters,

I'm both excited and a little sentimental to announce that my role at Providence Foundations in Oregon is changing effective July 1. It's my honor to be named as chief philanthropy officer for our system, Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH).

I will be charged with building out the system-wide office of philanthropy. This will include: conducting fundraising for system initiatives; leading strategy, oversight and collaboration with regional leaders throughout seven states; building and refining the operations and financial reporting for the collective foundations; and enhancing the culture of philanthropy across our large Mission-driven health system.

The even better news is that you - our amazing donors, friends and programs - will be in good hands with our talented team throughout Oregon. Additionally, Kelly Buechler has agreed to serve as interim chief philanthropy officer for Oregon. He has served as chief executive for Providence Portland Medical Foundation for the past 16 years, and he is excited to serve in this expanded role. An executive search is underway soon to hire a permanent replacement.

Thank you for your friendship and support during the past three-and-a-half years, and I look forward to continuing to work together serving our patients and communities.

Sincerely,

Laurie Kelley
President and chief development officer
Providence Foundations of Oregon

A local Columbia Gorge resident began exhibiting signs of a stroke, and his wife immediately took him to Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital. The doctor there wanted the additional expertise of a doctor specializing in strokes and used special video technology-called telestroke-to connect with an expert at Providence Portland Medical Center and administer life-saving medicine.

The tournament and dinner event raised nearly $60,000 for PSH Foundation's Innovation Fund.
