West Madison Little League
Update & Survey
As things begin to re-open around Dane County, and some baseball and softball activities become permissible, the WMLL Board wants to do two equally important things:
  1. provide an update (below)
  2. survey player-families about their thoughts about participating at WMLL this summer (below or HERE)
UPDATE

WMLL is committed to resuming activities in a gradual, safe and responsible fashion. WMLL's focus has always been and will continue to be the health and safety of our players, families and volunteers and responsible community action.

With the State Safer at Home order lifted, the County Forward Dane plan is the key source of information on how activities can resume in Dane County.  We are currently in Phase 1 of the plan which, while not allowing team sport games, does allow practices, drills and instructional lessons for groups of up to 15 youth to take place with appropriate social distancing in place.  (Click HERE for Public Health Madison & Dane County's Phase 1 Sports Guidance ).

We know that many of our families are excited to get back out on the fields, just as we are, but we are not yet ready to allow WMLL teams to start practicing just yet. We are in the process of preparing mandatory protocols and safety measures for practices that will be shared with everyone. These requirements will draw from the best information available.

The Forward Dane timeline for permitting activities beyond practices is not yet available. It is likely that WMLL activities will resume in an incremental, stepwise fashion. As things progress, we anticipate the following possibilities :
  1. Optional team practices with a cap on the number of players participating (e.g., half the roster)
  2. Regular practices for the full team
  3. Individual and/or team skills competitions at the WMLL ballpark
  4. Modified games/contests with altered rules
  5. Games that are as close to real baseball and softball as possible

WMLL will not allow any activity until it is permitted by Dane County & until WMLL has mandatory activity-specific protocols and safety measures in place that are based on the most current guidelines. WMLL will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
SURVEY

The WMLL Board fully understands that WMLL families need to do what they feel is best for the safety of their families. For this reason, and to help us plan next steps, we kindly request that all families complete a simple five question survey that should take less than five minutes.

Click HERE for the survey. We greatly appreciate your input & hope that each WMLL family can complete the survey by Sunday, May 31.
