Dear Friends,
At MassIPL, we believe in the transformative power of faith communities. As the climate crisis deepens—and as the challenges facing our national institutions grow more urgent—we must strengthen the ties in and between our faith communities.
Together, as a coalition of more than 200 churches, synagogues, temples, and institutions across the Commonwealth, we are united in our commitment to Creation care and climate justice. This work is more critical than ever, and MassIPL is here to help your congregation take the next step.
If you’re a decision-maker at one of these congregations (or know someone who is), this message is for you.
Over the past year, MassIPL has helped hundreds of houses of worship take practical actions to benefit both people and the planet. We’ve provided support in reducing energy costs, advancing sustainability, and integrating climate action into faith practices. As we look ahead, we are building a stronger, more diverse coalition, with new programs designed to engage new generations in the fight for climate justice.
But we can't do it without you.
With the 2026 calendar year just around the corner, many faith communities are finalizing their budgets and planning how to support mission-driven organizations. We invite you and your faith community to partner with MassIPL in the year ahead.
Please prayerfully consider:
-
Making an annual contribution to MassIPL as a house of worship (learn more here).
- Including MassIPL in your next budget cycle as one of the trusted organizations your congregation supports.
- Engaging with us by inviting us to preach, present, or meet with your green team to explore how your congregation can take the next step toward climate action.
You may have already received a personal message from a member of our Executive Committee inviting you to deepen your partnership with MassIPL. Feel free to respond to that email, or this one, with any questions.
As individuals, we would also be grateful if you would recommend MassIPL to your house of worship. Please forward this message or speak with your green team, missions committee, or any other justice or outreach group. And as the calendar year draws to a close, we gratefully welcome personal contributions to support our shared work.
It will take all of us working together to make a difference for faith and climate justice.
In this critical moment, may our shared spiritual and moral values be the power and light needed to guide us forward.
With deep gratitude,
Massachusetts Interfaith Power and Light
