My friend...

Here's a quick update on what I've been working on during a busy few weeks in Washington, DC, Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn...
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE HILL
I was officially sworn into the U.S. Congress on January 3, 2021, alongside both of my parents and my chihuahua, Peanut. Sixty years ago, my parents took a great chance and came to this country on their own. They worked hard and sacrificed so much, and I'm proud they were able to watch their daughter become a Member of Congress. This is the American Dream and opportunity we must preserve for future generations.
I was proud to join Chairman Jim Banks and a number of my colleagues in introducing the Save Democracy Act that will secure voter registration, protect ballot casting and safeguard ballot tabulation.

Nothing is more important than the integrity of our election system and it is past time for Congress to come together and work in a bipartisan fashion to improve it, eliminate irregularities and fraud and ensure that election security is no longer debated in the future.
I joined my newly-elected Republican colleagues in congratulating President Biden on his inauguration and pledged to work with his administration where we can identify common ground to put America first and provide real solutions to improve the lives of American citizens.

While I'll seek out common ground in good faith, my top priority will always be to represent my constituents in NY-11 and advocate for their interests. I will not stay silent if the incoming administration takes cues from the far left who push to enact harmful policies.
In light of New York Attorney General Letitia James' report confirming Governor Cuomo and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) severely undercounted coronavirus-related deaths at New York nursing homes, I've called for the governor to take immediate action and demand the resignation of Health Commissioner Howard Zucker.

The governor must accept responsibility for his administration's bad decisions that led to thousands of deaths of our most vulnerable, and the cover-up that attempted to minimize it. I've also called on the governor and Mayor de Blasio to expand indoor dining capacity for New York City restaurants and immediately resume in-person learning at New York City public schools. We cannot continue to let our students and small businesses suffer if we can reopen our schools and economy responsibly.
For the 117th Congress I have been selected to serve as an Assistant Whip for the House Republican Conference. I'm excited to work with my colleagues to support policies that will improve the lives of our fellow Americans and stand united against the Democrats' far left agenda when necessary. The time is now for Congress to implement common sense solutions that reenergize our economy, protect our freedoms and create more opportunity for individuals to achieve the American Dream.
I've also been selected to serve on the coveted House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) , a committee that is incredibly important to NY-11. Serving on this committee will allow me to fight for the resources needed to upgrade our city's aging infrastructure, speak out against toll and fare increases, and make investments in new projects that will support our community's population and economic growth.
In addition to T&I, I'll also be serving on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which is crucial to our nation's well being and prosperity from both the economic and national security perspectives. I'm looking forward to working with my colleagues to strengthen ties with our allies, build on the success of the Trump Administration's trade and peace deals and advocate for freedom and democracy around the globe.
IN THE DISTRICT
One of my top priorities in Congress has been to increase eligibility and open vaccine administration sites to accelerate COVID-19 vaccine distribution across New York City. I’ve also worked to get our veterans vaccinated quickly. While in the district, I was able to stop by the Brooklyn Veterans Affairs Medical Center to see their vaccination site and discuss their additional needs. Between this clinic and the Staten Island facilities we advocated for, roughly 250 veterans are getting vaccinated every day!
Veterans who are eligible and desire the vaccine should call (877) 877-9267 to make an appointment. The faster our community can be immunized, the faster we can reopen our economy and get our residents back to work.
My district staff has been providing PPE across the district, including face masks, hand sanitizer and gloves, to great organizations like Heartshare Human Services of New York, the Sephardic Lebanese Congregation and The Guild for Exceptional Children. Honored to assist these organizations in their fight against COVID-19 and help Americans get back to work. If your organization needs PPE, please call my Staten Island office at (718) 568-2870 or my Brooklyn office at (718) 306-1620.
I had a productive meeting with Councilman Steven Matteo, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the status of the East Shore Seawall Project. This project is near and dear to my heart and seeing its completion is one of my highest priorities.
Currently, city, state and federal partners are focused on reaching an agreement as to who should conduct the land remediation needed in Great Kills so the project can move forward. We discussed the potential to bring economic and recreational opportunities to the waterfront and the city's request to evaluate the feasibility of raising Highland Boulevard outside Gateway National Park, instead of the original plan of installing a floodgate. As of now, we expect the first project to be awarded in the Fall.
I want to thank Captain Jason Tama for showing me around the St. George U.S. Coast Guard Station in Staten Island. We had great conversation about their daily operations to keep our harbor safe and I look forward to a strong working relationship where I can support them in their mission and address some of the issues the guardsmen face.
I joined key leaders from the Chinese community for our first roundtable discussion about cuts to specialized education programs, COVID-19 vaccination, reopening our economy and supporting our men and women in blue.
While visiting the Fort Hamilton Senior Recreation Center in Brooklyn last year, the seniors informed me they needed new chairs as the ones they had were old & worn. My office delivered 100 chairs that are ready for when the center reopens to them. We’re happy to help!

Malliotakis: My objective was not to overturn the election
It is the duty of Congress to oversee the certification of electoral votes and taking the lead of Speaker Nancy Pelosi in 2005, have robust and respectful debate. It is not our duty to simply serve as rubber stamps.

“As someone who represents a community that’s surrounded by bridges, shipping ports, airports, has assets belonging to the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) and the port authority, and a station for the United States Coast Guard, I’m proud and appreciative of this appointment to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure,” said Congresswoman Malliotakis. “Serving on this committee is incredibly important for my constituents and will allow me to fight for the resources needed to upgrade our city’s aging infrastructure and make investments in new projects that will support our community’s population and economic growth."
New Congresswoman Vows to Stand Against Radical Agenda of Leftist ‘Squad’
Freshman Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., is one of several new members of Congress who have formed the “Freedom Force.” The group of conservative Republican leaders says it will stand against the far-left agenda being promoted by the so-called squad led by fellow New York Rep.
