My friend,

Here's a quick update on what I've been working on in Washington, DC, Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn...
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE HILL
This is an incredibly sad time for our nation.
These 13 soldiers sadly sacrificed their lives so we and others can live in freedom and we ALL have a responsibility to preserve it.

As we approach the 20th anniversary of September 11, a hotbed for terrorism has been created in the Middle East due to the Biden Administration's poor strategy regarding the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan. Secretary Blinken must come before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and answer every single one of our questions regardless of how long it takes.
I appeared on CNN to discuss the heartbreaking terrorist attack in Kabul, my efforts to evacuate American citizens and allies from Afghanistan, and what comes next to get answers from the Biden Administration.
My office announced that HHS will award the College of Staten Island $391,003 in federal grants. The funds are part of the NIH's SCORE Program and will be used for research conducted by Dr. Leora Yetnikoff.

These funds will go a long way in learning more about human brain functions and disease, including schizophrenia, drug addiction, and multiple sclerosis, and allow Dr. Yetnikoff to increase the number of students who will receive training in her lab.
If you or someone you know is part of a local organization seeking guidance on applying for federal grants, loans, and nonfinancial assistance for projects, please visit my website for key resources and more information on what your organization may be eligible for.
IN THE DISTRICT
From the 3rd Avenue stroll in Brooklyn to the Staten Island Summer Concerts, Richmond Town Tavern Series, and the National Night out Against Crime, it was great to be out meeting with residents of Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn at community events during August recess, especially ones supporting our men and women in blue!
My colleagues and I are pushing back on Governor Hochul and Mayor de Blasio's vaccine passport. The government’s role should be to provide the facts, science, and benefits of the vaccine so individuals can consult with their doctors to make the best decision for themselves and their families.
I joined Imam Dr. Tahir Kukqi for a roundtable with local religious and community leaders at the Albanian Islamic Cultural Center on Staten Island's North Shore. A big thank you to all the participants for a good dialogue on issues of interest to the local community.
Thank you to our local pharmacies and healthcare professionals who continue administering the vaccine to those in our community who want it. We have helped hundreds of constituents obtain vaccine appointments. I recently visited a local Walgreens in Brooklyn that was particularly helpful.
I proudly sponsored the Boardwalk Bash as an Assemblymember and I'm glad to see Assemblyman Mike Tannousis carry on the tradition. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on September 10!
IN THE NEWS
My Op-ed: Big Tech Acts Like Big Brother
The notice came in white text on a dark screen: “This video has been removed for violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines.” The company blocked a 45-minute video of my news conference announcing a lawsuit challenging Mayor Bill de Blasio’s “vaccine passport” as an invasion of New Yorkers’ privacy and an unreasonable mandate on small businesses.
Malliotakis successfully helps get Brooklyn family safely evacuated from Afghanistan
Brooklyn/Staten Island Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis reported Thursday that her office successfully assisted with the safe evacuation of four Brooklyn constituents — a mother and her three small children — from Kabul, Afghanistan.
Malliotakis hires Windsor as Brooklyn office director
Laurie Windsor has been hired as the director of U.S. Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’ district office in Bay Ridge.

Windsor, a Bath Beach resident, was born and raised in Bensonhurst and attended P.S. 186, I.S. 96, and New Utrecht High School.
