My friend,

Here's a quick update on what I've been working on in Washington, DC, Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn...
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE HILL
I spoke on the House Floor to honor World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient Osceola “Ozzie” Fletcher.

During WWII, Fletcher, who worked as a crane operator on Omaha Beach, was injured in the line of duty on D-Day. Despite the injuries he sustained, Fletcher was overlooked for a Purple Heart award because of his race.

I was honored to attend a ceremony at Fort Hamilton Army Base in Brooklyn NY, to watch no 99-year-old Fletcher receive the Purple Heart medal he earned more than seven decades ago.
I've introduced the Transparency of Migration Act, legislation that requires the Biden Administration to make certain information relating to individuals processed through or apprehended by Customs and Border Protection or HHS facilities publicly available on department websites.

Local governments deserve to know who is being sent to their communities so they can direct the proper resources, anticipate the impact on local services, protect residents and hold the Administration accountable for its failure to address the current immigration this crisis.
IN THE DISTRICT
I joined the House Homeland Security Committee in holding a roundtable discussion with top New York City law enforcement and association leadership.

So many in our community are concerned about public safety in our city. I have been at the forefront of pushing back against those in our city, state, and federal government who are proposing anti-police policies that have destroyed New York City's quality of life and led to skyrocketing crime.

Rep. Malliotakis makes effort to prevent possible congestion pricing ‘double-tolling’ for Staten Islanders
Congestion pricing in New York City has been in limbo since it passed as part of the 2019 state budget, but Rep. Nicole Malliotakis is trying to get ahead of an additional toll burden it could put on Staten Islanders.
Now that New York State has officially relaxed COVID-19 restrictions and our country is returning to normal, you may be thinking about or planning a trip sometime soon. While you're planning, be sure to check your passport to ensure it hasn't or will not expire before your trip.
