PRAIRIE MEADOWS AWARDS ANAWIM $350,000 LEGACY GRANT
Prairie Meadows has awarded Anawim Housing a Legacy Grant of $350,000 to support our mission and work towards ending homelessness. This important and impactful grant will help us fund The Monarch Apartments – the adaptive reuse of a hotel on Merle Hay Road into 40 Permanent Supportive Housing units for people who have experienced homelessness.
 
We offer our sincere gratitude to Prairie Meadows for their support of our mission and community at large. Twenty-one other nonprofits were awarded Legacy Grants through Prairie Meadow.

THE ANAWIM HOUSING TOUR OF HOMES
Thank you to all who attended our Tour of Homes last month! Guests had an opportunity to tour The Monarch Apartments – Anawim’s first hotel conversion project where we are turning a Days Inn into 40 new Permanent Supportive Housing units. The tour also included viewing some of our affordable housing and several of Anawim’s very first properties located near 6th Avenue.

Missed the tour? Anawim Housing will be hosting a Fall Tour of Homes:

A CLOSER LOOK: MEET CINDY WEST
Program Director, Full Circle Recovery Community Center

We sat down with Cindy West to learn more about how she is building her team and the Full Circle Recovery Community Center in three Iowa cities:

What's your position and how long have you been with Anawim Housing/Full Circle Recovery Community Center? 
I am the Program Director for the new Full Circle Recovery Community Center (FCRCC), which will open locations in Des Moines, Council Bluffs, and Sioux City beginning in August of this year. The Full Circle RCC is funded by a six-year grant from the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Tell us some of the things you do daily in your work? 
Right now I am working on hiring the team for all three locations and getting the facilities up and running. I am always reading up on research in the field of addiction and learning from other communities and organizations about how to most effectively expand and embrace multiple pathways to recovery. Another part of my job is to develop a sustainability plan and strategic plan, so that Full Circle RCC can continue to assist people in recovery for many years to come.

RISING TOWARD
COMMUNITY - A Celebration of Perseverance
The Summer Solstice is the first day of Summer and the longest day of the year. It is a day filled with light—where we honor the strength, resilience, and spirit of individuals who have overcome homelessness. Each year surrounding the Summer Solstice, members of the Anawim Housing peer-support group Full Circle, host their annual Rising Toward Community event

"Every year, Anawim’s Rising Toward Community event provides a space to come together to honor and celebrate the work we are doing to end homelessness in Des Moines" states Hannah Landgraf, Senior Program Manager.


Speakers from UCS Mobile Healthcare Unit, Des Moines Area Community College, Full Circle Recovery Community Center and ReNew Crew spoke while everyone shared in a meal and togetherness.
