Make your donation go TWICE as far!
Anawim Housing is announcing a special end of year campaign we're calling "The Best Chance" challenge. Thanks to a friend of Anawim Housing, every donation received between October 24th and December 31st will be matched - dollar for dollar - up to $100,000! Help us meet the challenge, double your impact, and give people  the best chance  to overcome homelessness.

Randy, an Anawim Housing tenant, has been living in Permanent Supportive Housing through Anawim for over ten years. He experienced homelessness and still remembers the day Anawim Housing staff found him in a soup kitchen line. His words and story are the inspiration behind the name we have given to this end of year challenge.
"In the beginning, Anawim was just a shelter, a place to sleep, a room with a door,"  says Randy.  "But it became something so much more because Anawim gave me the space, the resources, and the time I needed to create a home. They don't just give you a second or a third chance, they give you the best chance."  - Randy.

This season of giving and gratitude is the best chance to double YOUR impact and make a donation to Anawim Housing go TWICE as far. Together, we can provide people with the best chance to overcome homelessness.

Are you up for the challenge? Please consider a donation to Anawim Housing today!

Our annual Women Empowering Families ThanksGIVING Event will be:
Thursday, November 21st at The Thoreau Center in Des Moines.

We look forward to continuing the tradition of guests helping us collect much needed household items that will be donated to Anawim Housing tenants moving into housing from homelessness.

We have set up an Amazon Wish List that has lots of our highest need items for our tenants moving into housing. Event will include a short and inspiring presentation, wine and appetizers. We look forward to seeing you there! RSVP and view the wish list by clicking READ MORE.
Thank you to all who attended our Men's Breakfast this morning. A very special thank you to our guest and speaker James who shared his inspiring story about the impact stable housing has made in his life and his journey of overcoming homelessness. Other speakers included: Joel Templeman - Operating Board Chair, Hannah Landgraf - Advancement Director, and Russ Frazier - President. Event took place at The Cub Club at Principal Park.

The weeks of September 24 - October 4th were busy here as we participated in an exciting and fun voting challenge. The Opus Group in Des Moines selected Anawim Housing as their nonprofit finalist to participate alongside seven other nonprofits nationwide to compete for a Community Building Award from the Opus Foundation.

While we did not win the grand prize, we finished strong in fourth place out of eight and are very grateful to be the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Opus Foundation that we can use to further our mission here in Des Moines. We extend a heartfelt thank you to The Opus Group for the opportunity and to YOU - our supporters - for your votes and help in spreading the word throughout our community.
