PROJECT DES MOINES
Project Des Moines is the result of a partnership with Anawim Housing and photographer Joe Crimmings to help tell the story of our community. Crimmings was inspired by Anawim's mission to end homelessness and ensure the most vulnerable have a safe place to call home. As a result, he created images around the idea of what homelessness looks like in Des Moines, and through those images, we sought to end stigmas associated with it.

To paint everyone in the same light, each person was photographed in black and white, and in a similar fashion: both those who have faced homelessness and those fortunate to have not. The images create the opportunity for you to explore your own biases and rethink how we look at our fellow neighbors.

Project Des Moines was unveiled at the Anawim Housing We Empower Families ThanksGIVING event, Nov. 2022. We hope to display the exhibit in future public spaces and continue to share this important body of work with our community.

HELP US CELEBRATE 35 YEARS WITH THE GIFT OF HOME
It's Anawim Housing's 35th Anniversary year! While a lot has changed in 35 years, our commitment to our mission has only grown stronger. With your support, we continue to work tirelessly to end homelessness and ensure the most vulnerable in our community have a safe place to call home. Because Home is Everything.

Throughout the upcoming holiday season, we ask you to consider giving the gift of home, hope, and community through a donation to Anawim Housing. 100% of your donation goes toward supporting those moving into housing with Anawim and the life-changing programs and services we provide.

A CLOSER LOOK: MEET HELEN TRISKO
PROPERTY MANAGER WITH ALLTERRA
We sat down with Helen Trisko to learn more about how she is helping those we serve through affordable housing as a Property Manager with Allterra Property Solutions:

What is your position and how long have you been with Allterra?
I am a Property Manager for affordable properties in the Allterra portfolio. I’ve been at Anawim/Allterra for 1 year and 2 months.

What motivates you in your work?
I passionately believe that everyone needs a safe place to stay so that we can all lead happy and healthy lives. Many people do not have the resources they need to sustain their housing. Anawim works to fill resource gaps so we can connect folks in our community with safe and affordable housing. I work at Anawim/Allterra because it gives me the opportunity to imagine and create a safer world.

ANAWIM TOUR OF HOMES
Thank you to all who joined us!
Earlier this month, guests joined us for the Anawim Housing Tour of Homes. The tour included stops at the Monarch Apartments - Anawim's first hotel conversion project where we are converting a hotel into 40 Permanent Supportive Housing units; and Baker Creek Senior Living - an affordable housing property built by Anawim in 2013 made up of 30 spacious 2-bedroom units, a community room, and handicap accessible units for those 55+.

We do tours of our properties every year! It's a wonderful way to learn about Anawim Housing and see first-hand the different ways we are providing safe, affordable, permanent supportive housing for our community.

Keep an eye out for details on our next tour in 2023!
