The We Empower Families ThanksGIVING event is proudly presented by: Claudette & P.J. McDonald, Patty & Jim Cownie Charitable Fund, and George & Deb Milligan.

This annual event directly supports the individuals and families who call Anawim Housing home. Proceeds help fund our Permanent Supportive Housing programs that house individuals moving into Anawim Housing from homelessness.

MONARCH APARTMENTS BREAKS GROUND
On September 19th, Anawim held a Ceremonial Groundbreaking for the Monarch Apartments. Together with the community, we celebrated the kickoff to construction on this innovative and critically needed Permanent Supportive Housing project.
The Monarch Apartments is Anawim Housing's conversion of a previous Days Inn hotel on Merle Hay Road in Des Moines into 40 units of Permanent Supportive Housing for those currently experiencing homelessness. The project will include 24-hour onsite supportive services and staff. Anawim Housing is developing the Monarch Apartments, which will be the first hotel conversion into Permanent Supportive Housing in Iowa.
Director Debi Durham of the Iowa Finance Authority shared, "I commend Anawim Housing's pioneering approach to advancing housing opportunities through this first of its kind project in Iowa and look forward to hearing the success stories of Iowans who've conquered barriers and achieved success in their new homes." Speakers at the groundbreaking included IFA Director Durham, Polk County Supervisor Angela Connolly, Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie, Executive Director of Homeward - Angie Arthur, and President of Anawim Housing - Cynthia Latcham.

Housing is foundational to the health and well-being of all individuals. The Monarch Apartments helps ensure a critical and permanent housing intervention, best suited to support the needs of the individual, will be available to those experiencing homelessness in our community. FALL TOUR OF HOMES:
Thank you to all who joined!
Yesterday we hosted the Anawim Housing Fall Tour of Homes! Thank you to all who joined us on that beautiful fall day.
Guests had an opportunity to view and tour some of our affordable housing and Permanent Supportive Housing throughout the community. The tour included a single-family home in the heart of where Anawim first began - the Forest Avenue Neighborhood - as well as a stop at the future site of the Monarch Apartments.

Our tours are a wonderful way to learn more about the housing, programs and services Anawim provides, the ongoing need, and how you can help make a difference.
