Are you carrying excess baggage? The journey towards enlightenment means becoming lighter, both literally and energetically. We may begin life with heavy karmic burdens but, as we learn from our experiences and increase in our awareness we gradually release the patterns that keep these in place.
Life constantly presents us with opportunities to grow and the first step is noticing these for what they are. Each time we numb out or go into habitual reactions we add to our baggage and deepen our rut.
One way you can appreciate you're getting lighter is when you notice a new reaction to someone or something or when you make a different choice. Cheer yourself each time a situation which usually triggers you finally finds you in the role of neutral observer. Allow yourself a happy jig whenever you awaken from autopilot behaviour that keeps you in a rut and instead make a conscious choice which takes you along an ascending path to higher awareness. Appreciation will reinforce your new way of being.
Stay alert and awake, look at life through curious eyes and embrace change - it's vital for growth. With Mercury in retrograde, now's the perfect time to look back over past choices and review whether or not what you're doing now is truly fulfilling.

Ancestral Ritual - Release & Receive
|
Are you connected to ancestral support? Like trees we thrive with a strong root system so here's a ritual to allow both give and take from our family lineage.
First create a shrine with photographs or mementos.
You could add crystals with strong links to ancestral energy such as cuprite, sandstone, okenite, danburite, bloodstone or obsidian.
If you'd like to burn or diffuse essential oils, a good choice would be
Immortelle
,
Frankincense
or
Myrrh
.
The most evocative incense or scented candles to accompany this would be lavender, sandalwood or rose.
If you have the blend

take four drops of it.
Now sit quietly focusing on your breath until you feel an inner stillness then invite your ancestors to be with you as you go for a short walk in their honour. Take a small bag and find a space outside, preferably near trees and water. Begin to walk mindfully, reflecting on the negative patterns you're carrying as a result of your heritage. Each time you identify a pattern such as procrastination, addiction, over-responsibility or self neglect, pick up a stone or other object to symbolise it.
When you've finished, sit next to the water, whether that's the sea, a river, a pond or a lake, and consider the weight of these patterns you carry and how they've held you back. Allow the desire to be free of them to arise within you until you feel a truly explosive energy. Now one by one send each object skimming across the water to sink into the depths. Saying out loud, 'I release procrastination/addiction etc into the light'. When the last one has gone, breathe golden light deep into your solar plexus and notice how fresh and radiant you feel.
 Now it's time to receive. As you walk back breathe into your heart and reflect on the precious gifts your ancestors gave you such as patience, resilience, kindness, practicality, psychic gifts, a love of plants, a talent for music, an ability to heal, a loving heart. Pick an object to represent each quality and put it in your bag.
When you get home place each object on your altar thanking your ancestors for each one. Commit to expressing and developing these gifts and decide on one action you can take today that will honour them and allow them to take deeper root within you. It may be volunteering at an animal or homeless shelter or joining a choir or a healing circle. When you call upon your ancestral strengths, you'll find the right opportunity will present itself with amazing synchronicity.
