The Summer season has faded into Fall all too swiftly but the pool season ended on a high note with the first ever Dog Day Afternoon. The final hour of the season was a hit with the kids playing with the dogs and chasing each other around the pool deck. We owe our team that made the Summer so pleasant in the midst of a pandemic a debt of gratitude for their fine service and good cheer.
Now it’s time to turn our attention to Fall activities at the Club including the upcoming Oyster Roast in November as well as our first ever Car Show in mid-October. I can’t wait to see some of the cool and eclectic rides that our members will show off! We need decorated trunks for the Trunk-or-Treat on Halloween so plan to come out and show off your best spooky decorating and costumes.
We are adjusting the event offerings to reflect the latest guidelines concerning Social Distancing and event size so please plan to make reservations if you want to attend a specific event as participants may be limited. Check the Club calendar for several other new events in the coming weeks. The side curtains for the tent should be in place soon so we can continue to enjoy our patio into the cool weather.
Now that the summer season has ended plans are underway for extensive renovations to the pool during the off season. The white coat must be resurfaced, coping and tile repaired and the diving board support refurbished. There are also plans for replacing decking on the T-dock as well as some much-needed Clubhouse upgrades.
Look for more information on these plans in the next month.
I also would like to remind the members that the Nominating Committee will begin their work to select the slate of candidates to be presented for election at the next Annual Meeting in January. Anyone wishing to serve should contact the Committee members Sharyn Fox, Samantha Highsmith or Lindsay Blackmon who were elected at the Annual Meeting in January of this year.
Fall weather is beautiful so get out and enjoy the Club!
