Redefining the meaning of race in the 21st century

Osher Summer Lecture

"There's no place in the world Black people can go and be free of white supremacy," says Howard University Political Science Professor Niambi M. Carter in this OSHER at Dartmouth summer lecture 2022. "Even if we're not seeing big out-migrations to Costa Rica, Panama, Ghana, or other places, we might see [Black] people moving to other states that are not as hostile."

For the first time

We all have first-time stories. Here are some doozies from AVA Gallery's most recent Mudroom live storytelling event two weeks ago. Buckle up for storytellers Kamyn Asher, Kristen Coats and husband Paul Coats, John Weatherly, Warren Thayer, and Sally Wright Bacon. They'll take you on a wild ride everywhere from Thailand to Barrow, Alaska. There's even a story about a fox who transforms into a woman.

Jukebox Tuesday from the TipTop

Arthur James became a fixture of the New England blues scene in the 80’s playing a nouveau-retro style of acoustic/electric blues, that incorporates soulful vocals, passionate guitar work and a smidgen of irreverence. Jennings & Keller is an award-winning nationally touring duo based out of Florida offering 21st Century Americana with influences in folk, jazz, and roots music. Enjoy their intimate local show from the Speakeasy Studio in the TipTop, produced by Here In the Valley.

How to finish a book rather than starting a new one?

This week one of our bookstore owners, Allie sent another bookseller, Jack, in her place. And Sam relied on Emma to represent the Norwich Bookstore alone, as someone had to actually stay in the store and work. Quickly the booksellers bonded over their adamant and united response: Don't finish a book you don't want to.  (Episode 18, premiered 09.20.22)

CONGRATS Shelf Help Podcast on reaching 1000 downloads!
