The Great Library Card Sign Up Month Challenge!
This September, the New Rochelle Public Library (NRPL) is challenging the community to help reach an ambitious goal: 700 new library card sign-ups during Library Card Sign-Up Month!
A library card is your ticket to a world of free resources, experiences and opportunities—and there’s never been a better time to get one.
New Rochelle residents, including children of all ages, can get a library card by visiting the New Rochelle Public Library’s Main Library or Huguenot Children’s Library with identification and proof of New Rochelle residency. Those who work or attend school in New Rochelle are also eligible for an NRPL card. Applications can also be completed here.

Between Two Worlds Book Club: The Zelmenyaners: A Family Saga by Moyshe Kulbak
Join us on Monday, August 31, 6:15 pm for a lively discussion of The Zelmenyaners: A Family Saga by Moyshe Kulbak. This comic masterpiece offers a vivid portrait of a Jewish family navigating life in Soviet-era Minsk. Spanning generations, the novel explores the tensions between tradition and modernity with humor, satire, and heart.

Whistler by Ann Patchett, is a novel about a a 53-year-old woman named Daphne Fuller who unexpectedly reunites with her former stepfather, Eddie Triplett, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art after 45 years apart.
Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Belle Burden is a 2026 non-fiction book detailing the author's separation and divorce during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Save the Date: Teen Advisory Board Meeting
The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) are dedicated teens who help create programs and services that will appeal to teens in grades 6 - 12. Their next meeting is Saturday, September 19, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
The TAB works with the Teen services librarian and staff to implement, assist in, and promote the program and service ideas generated by the group. TAB members are also encouraged to lead their own program to be hosted at the library.

A Summer of Great Reading!
Our Adult Summer Reading Program was a wonderful success, with more than 110 adults participating throughout the summer! We wrapped up the program on Monday, August 24, with a festive Meet & Greet, where eight participants gathered to chat about their favorite summer reads, enjoy light refreshments, and celebrate their love of books.
We also announced our Summer Reading winners, with three participants receiving $25 gift cards and four Meet & Greet attendees winning fun prizes, including a mystery box, tea set, notecards and a Shakespeare insult mug.

Air of Truth Experience Coming Soon to Lumen Winter Gallery
Can you crack the code on New Rochelle’s air?
Air of Truth: Escape the T.R.A.P. is a free, self-guided, escape-room-style experience in the Lumen Winter Gallery presented by the Energy Justice Law & Policy Center and Hour to Exit. The exhibit opens September 8.
In about 15 minutes, visitors complete four hands-on missions: Traffic, Respiratory, Air Monitoring and Prevention. Follow clues, explore real local air quality information, fill in an Air Quality Field Report and escape the T.R.A.P.!
The experience is designed for all ages, with materials available in English and Spanish.

Westchester County Seeks Public Input To Help Shape the Future of Senior Transportation
Westchester County is inviting older adults, caregivers and residents to participate in a surveyto better understand the transportation needs of older adults and their caregivers (including Home Health Aides) across Westchester County. The feedback will help shape future recommendations to improve mobility and independence.
Residents are encouraged to complete the survey by Monday, Oct. 5

The final Summer Sounds free concert – presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA) -- takes place tomorrow, Friday, August 28 at 7:30 pm at the historic Hudson Park band shell. Enjoy live music and a curated selection of food trucks.
