Message from Sheriff Ed Gonzalez:

I hope everyone had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays with your loved ones this past week. I know some of our teammates worked through the holidays serving and protecting the community, sacrificing time spent with their loved ones. Our job never stops, and I’m grateful for all you do to protect our residents with honor and courage. Below, you’ll see some of the highlights of what our teammates are accomplishing through the holidays.

This past Friday, our law enforcement family grew as we welcomed class J7-19 into the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The 22 newly sworn-in detention officers have withstood the rigorous training at our academy to earn the right to don the Pride of Texas patch on their arm. They have worked hard and dedicated themselves to serving our great county. Congratulations to all and best of luck to you as you begin your professional career.

The past few years, I’ve had the honor of continuing our agency’s participation in Navidad En El Barrio. This event allows the children on incarcerated parents to share a meal and receive gifts with parents. This year, I’m proud to say that we extended this event to the incarcerated veterans in the Brothers in Arms program. Below you’ll see background video on the program and highlights from the event today.

As we await 2020’s arrival, I can’t help but reflect on this past year and how much we’ve accomplished as an agency. I have always said we are an agency on the move, striving to improve where we can. Because of your hard work and commitment, I think we can say we’ve done just that. Thank you for a great year and here’s to 2020. God bless all of you, and God bless the Harris County Sheriff’s Office — Happy New Year!

Voluntary Diagnostic Physical Fitness Test

The Academy Staff will be administering a Volunteer Diagnostic Physical Fitness Test, which consist of 20 or more push-ups (1 minute), 45 or more sit-ups (2 minutes) and a 1.5 mile run (15:30 minutes or less).

DATES :

Tuesday, November 26, 2019 (8:00 am/1:00 pm Session)

Wednesday, December 11, 2019 (8:00 am/1:00 pm Session)

Tuesday, February 11, 2020 (8:00 am/1:00pm Session)

TIME :

8:00 am or 1:00 pm (two sessions per day)

PLACE :

The Harris County Sheriff’s Academy, 2316 Atascocita Road, Humble Texas 77396 (Gym)

UNIFORM :

Professional/tasteful active wear (please, no see-thru/mesh garments)

NOTE :

A demonstration of the BPOC weapon manipulation and radio gateways will be given.

Downtown Shop Hours

The Downtown shop hours will be 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. The shop will be set up to work on immediate repairs such as lights, batteries, and flat tires. The 2nd shift will perform PM services.

The service is to assist anyone needing service or repairs after their assigned vehicle repair facility’s normal hours. Continue to have major repairs that need to be towed, taken to the vehicles assigned repair facility.
