At Chroma, we are thrilled to see our optical filters utilized in capturing an exceptional image of the Supernova Remnant G156.2+5.7 (SNR156), an extremely faint and rarely imaged celestial object in the constellation Auriga.

This project, led by the Deep Sky Collective, required a collaborative mosaic approach due to SNR156's vast size. Over four months of imaging and an additional two months of meticulous pre- and post-processing resulted in a breathtaking image, marking the longest ever integration time on this supernova remnant—totaling over 385 hours!

We encourage you to check out the comparison of radio, x-ray, and optical views of SNR156 in the image description. This comparison provides an excellent example of the unique features and intricate details that different wavelengths can reveal.

See the full high-resolution image and learn about the hard work and team effort that went into capturing it. Also, be sure to explore the Deep Sky Collective's gallery for more stunning images made with Chroma filters.
