VPC Builders & The Big Kahuna|
Watauga County Habitat for Humanity is kicking off its annual fundraiser, The Big Kahuna and we're excited to be a part of this event! Community leaders join this fundraising competition to see who can raise the most money between March 1st and May 18th and VPC Builders owner, Matt Vincent, is participating in this year's event! The person who raises the most money will be crowned Watauga County Habitat’s 2017 Big Kahuna at the “Don-Ho-Down” celebration at Appalachian Mountain Brewery. Proceeds raised will provide funding for a new home in the eco-friendly Habitat for Humanity GreenWood neighborhood.

Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce After Hours|  We had the pleasure of hosting the Banner Elk Business After Hours event at our main office in Banner Elk.  A huge thank you to everyone that partnered with us to and to everyone who came out to make this event such a great success!

A silent auction was held during the event to raise funds for the Watauga Habitat for Humanity's "Big Kahuna" fundraiser.  We can't thank everyone enough that donated to the silent auction and supported this great cause.

Happy May everyone! I hope you are enjoying this warmer weather as much as I am!  Better weather means more time to go out and do things, but we sometimes forget about keeping our home life as organized as it could be. But don't worry!  I've put together some tasks that will help you get organized at home and ready for the upcoming summer season!

Home Electronics | Between cellphones, chargers, laptops and more, it's difficult to keep it all organized.  Spend an hour or two on wire management and you won't believe how much space you'll save without cords tangled everywhere. Bundle excess wires with a rubber band for extra storage space and organization.

Wash Windows | What better way to welcome the summertime sunshine than by clearing all the dirt from the windows inside and out.

Rug Refresh | You won't believe the difference a fresh carpet clean can make. Rent a carpet cleaner or have it professionally cleaned to refresh your carpets more than you normally would with just a regular vaccuum and spot cleaner.

Hope this helps!  To conclude, here's a little dog wisdom:  “Always look up; there are treats beyond your wildest dreams waiting!"  Take care friends!
Come out to the Appalachian Mountain Brewery where the results will be announced for the Big Kahuna fundraiser by the Watauga County Habitat for Humanity.  The Kahuna who raised the most money will be named the BIG KAHUNA!  Find out more.
From 9:00am - 6:00pm come out to Emerald Village to celebrate the mountain and gem heritage with activities like guided hikes, games and more!   Find out more.

“People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.” – Dale Carnegie

Success is not always measured by winning, losing or accomplishing a task.  Sometimes, the best way to achieve success is to find ways to enjoy your life and your work.  By noting the little things you enjoy about what you do, doing the work no longer feels like 'work' and that in itself is the best way to achieve success.

Purple Heart Homes partners with local volunteers in the community with the intent of restoring dignity and 'quality of life' by creating a safe, barrier free living environment for Service Connected Disabled Veterans who currently own a home that no longer meets their physical needs. Renovations are provided at no cost to the Veteran. If you know of a local Veteran in need of assistance, please let us know.
