On Christmas Eve we turn our thoughts to the holy family giving birth to the son by singing and lighting candles. On Christmas Day we ring bells and sing ancient hymns and worship the newborn King.

And then what?

As Christians, this time of year offers us the opportunity to . . . read more

Honor or Memorialize Someone Special

Burn the Candle

One of the ways you can honor or memorialize someone special to you, your group, or congregation is to Burn the Candle. Each minute the candle burns represents the cost of all United Women in Faith missions for 1 minute of the year. Your honorariums will help fund UWFaith's vital, transformative mission work with women, children and youth in the US and around the world.

This year we're asking for $25 per minute.
We will Burn the Candle at our annual meeting in March, and hope to burn the candle for 400 minutes. Make this a part of your year-end traditions! Use the form online at UWFaithHTC.org/candle-25

HTC UWFaith Engage with Love!

UPUWF
UWFaith of University Park UMC in Dallas prepared 89 take-home casseroles for the older adults in the Casa Feliz senior ministry at Wesley-Rankin Community Center in West Dallas. Since 92% of the seniors depend on food assistance, these take-home meals help nourish the seniors during the holiday weeks when there is no WRCC programming or meals.

UWFaith of FUMC Hurst decorated a Christmas Tree to promote the Jerri Savuto Girls Center! Placed in the church foyer, the tree gets attention. There are brochures there too, so more people are learning about the Jerri Savuto Center.
The tree
is decorated with pictures of the girls and Chrismons made by the girls. The Chrismons were created during their International Day of the Girl Child Event - which was a 3-day alternative rite of passage event. (read more about it here)

2025 MISSION PROJECT CELEBRATON

Click to watch the video of our Nov. 1st interactive virtual celebration with the girls at the Jerri Savuto Center. The girls living at the Center in Kenya offered prayer, scripture, testimony and a clever "Newscast" telling us about recent developments and how they are grateful for our support! Your HTC UWFaith officers greeted the girls and shared your messages of encouragement, prayers and love for them.

It is a rare opportunity to hear thanks from the beneficiaries of our international mission project!

2025 MISSION PROJECT UPDATE
Nov. 1st Celebration Video Highlight:

The Jerri Savuto Center News

In this 7 minute clip, the girls give a newscast full of gratitude and fun. This was written and performed just for us in the Horizon TX Conference! Click to watch the news now from news anchor, Divora, and her reporters Orian, Monica, Joy, Linda, Massie and Faith. Their gratitude is genuine and you'll be enjoy how clever they are!

Thanks to all 2025 Mission Project Donors!

The funds have been sent to Kenya so that building the new security stone wall can start. The season when the girls are most vulnerable is in December. The wall will help protect them before 'FGM season' when many girls get "The Cut." Your donations are changing lives!

YOUR VOICE IS NEEDED!

Have you been to a UMW / UWFaith Assembly?

Please share what made it a great experience for you! Send your memories, inspiration and the impact it had on you. Was it the workshops? Meeting other great women? The Keynote Speakers or entertainment? Your experience may inspire someone else to attend. Any length is fine. Send to news@uwfaithhtc.org.

Book Recommendations

What book(s) do you recommend? What book made an impact on you?
Readers are asking for reviews and recommendations -- and we KNOW you have an opinion! Please share! Please send a short review of a book on the UWFaith Reading Program list to news@uwfaithhtc.org.

Gift Ideas!

Burn the Candle

See above for full explanation of the Burning the Candle tradition. Honor or memorialize a dear friend, a role model, or someone you respect because of her / his mission work.

Purchase your minutes and celebrate with your local or small group, or not. Names of donors and honorees will be in the 2026 Program Book at the HTC UWFaith Annual Mtg. on March 7th. Minutes may be purchased throughout the year.

Jerri Savuto Girls

Adopt-a-Girl at the Center now and send her Christmas greetings! $50 a month is what it costs to provide the basic needs for each girl, including room & board, school fees, medical care, and insurance. The Center needs sponsors for just 13 of the 74 girls living there. The girls will write a personal letter back to their sponsor and will be periodically updated on life at the JS Center.

Please consider adopting a girl during this vulnerable Christmas season. $50 a month or $600 for a year. The Jerri Savuto Center for Girls is now a 501(c)3 so your gift will be tax deductible.

Adopt or donate here. Questions? Contact Joyce Whiteley
