In this special edition of our Community Newsletter, we are highlighting the master’s degree programs that we’ve refreshed for this fall at Anderson School of Management.
MBA PROGRAMS
Executive MBA Program Expansion
Anderson’s Executive MBA is uniquely structured for business leaders. Knowledge and ideas are shared through a combination of on-campus and online classroom learning to enhance students’ educational experiences. We’re very excited to welcome two new EMBA cohorts to the Albuquerque campus this summer. This weekend-based program is supplemented by a speaker series, alumni engagement, and an immersive residency experience. Wrap-around services integrated into the program always include textbooks, course registration, catering and on-site support.
Sherrick Roanhorse
Local Government Affairs Mgr, PNM
Board President, Navajo Prep School
EMBA Class of 2018
A key element of the EMBA program is a rich, engaging residency experience. In the past, this has consisted of a 10-day international residency focused on global business leadership in which students meet with global business executives, government leaders and thought leaders in another country to learn global business theories and best practices through in-person experience. Additional innovative immersive residency experiences will be solicited from the faculty as options for upcoming cohorts with an alignment around the strengths of the state of New Mexico and Anderson faculty areas of expertise.
MBA for Professionals

Anderson recently launched a part-time, evening program called the MBA for Professionals, designed to support current and future industry leaders to make impactful and transformational change in their industries. With an initial focus on three tracks starting this fall for health care professionals, for professionals in education, and general management, the MBA for Professionals will onboard additional tracks in the future.

The MBA for Professionals focuses on niches that are relevant to New Mexico and are areas where we have need for innovative leadership. The structure of the program provides an opportunity for us to partner with key industry sectors that are important to our state and support the need for talent as businesses work to grow. Our goal is to be a partner to business in New Mexico, so our students have great job opportunities when they graduate and our partners have skilled, professional leaders in their industries.

Courses are offered in the evenings on campus, allowing students to work full time while attending graduate school. In addition, coaching from industrial professionals is integral to this program, providing guidance and mentorship to help connect the business curriculum with students’ professional goals.
Online MBA
Anderson is also offering a fully online MBA program with flexible scheduling for part-time or full-time course loads. This program provides the same innovative curriculum, diverse faculty, experiential learning, and access to our in-house professional development center that are included with all Anderson graduate programs, while allowing students the flexibility to navigate the program independently. Whether students want to enhance their current career, change professions, or look toward entering industry, the online MBA program can position students for employment with one of more than 200 employers that recruit Anderson students.
MASTER OF SCIENCE PROGRAMS
Master of Science in Project Management
The new Master of Science in Project Management degree program is specialized, developed specifically for individuals interested in an advanced career position in project management, program management, or project controls. This program provides the technical depth for graduates to compete for local, state, national and even international jobs. Perks include the Primavera P6 project management system, and both Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories have established paid student internships to support this degree program.

The Master of Science in Project Management is fully online and asynchronous, offering flexibility to meet scheduling needs, and can be completed in as little as 11 months.
Master of Science in Cybersecurity
and Business Analytics
The Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Business Analytics is a fully online program examining issues surrounding the impact of information security and security risks to business and government. The program is taught in an application-oriented manner with case studies and examples, building the foundation for the most widely used analytics tools and techniques. The program is ideal for students with undergraduate degrees in business, accounting, computer science or computer-related engineering, information systems or information technology.

Job opportunities are exceeding the current supply of specialists in these fields, so those graduating with this degree are in high demand. Typical types of firms and organizations that hire MSCBA graduates include law enforcement, national labs, financial services, Fortune 500 companies, educational and health care organizations, and federal, state, local and tribal governments. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act and related accounting and auditing standards have also created many information assurance employment opportunities in the audit staffs of public accounting firms and private organizations.
Master of Accounting
The Anderson Master of Accounting degree prepares students with or without accounting backgrounds to become experts in areas such as taxation, information assurance, auditing, finance, fraud and managerial accounting. With individualized attention from MACCT staff and professors as well as specialized courses like the CPA prep course, students obtain the skills and analytical thinking to become CPAs and leaders in their field.
Deisy Ruiz
MACCT Class of 2019
The MACCT curriculum has been updated to meet the changing needs in the accounting industry and now includes three tracks: the professional track for students without any background in accounting, and the assurance track and tax track for students with accounting backgrounds.
