NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
MBA for Professionals Program Slated for Fall 2021

Anderson School of Management is launching an MBA for Professionals program for early career professionals. This program will include tracks for professionals in health care, education and general management for incoming students starting in August 2021.

It’s a part-time, evening program designed for working professionals with one or more years of work experience. Students will be able to progress through the program at their own pace, typically taking one or two courses per term. Students can complete their 43-credit hour program in as little as 18 months.
Integral to this program is coaching from industry professionals. Coaches will provide guidance and mentorship to help students connect the business curriculum with their career goals in each professional track.

For this application period, the GMAT or GME entrance exam requirement is waived. In addition, all UNM alumni automatically qualify for a Lobo for Life Scholarship to assist with tuition for this program.
UNM Community-Owned Business Listings Sought

One of the clear lessons of the last 12 months is that we all have a responsibility to look out for one another, and the UNM Innovation Academy wants to ensure that means supporting our fellow Lobos who are small business owners and entrepreneurs. The Innovation Academy, in partnership with Anderson School of Management, is collecting information from UNM-affiliated business owners to create a searchable database of Lobo entrepreneurs to help consumers more easily find and support local small businesses that meet their needs.

While the database is still in its early stages of development, we’re looking to gather as many Lobo-owned businesses as possible. If you or someone you know owns a business and is affiliated with UNM—whether student, alumni, faculty or staff—we need your help. Have them fill out this short form to add their business—and we can all keep seeing our UNM entrepreneurial community thrive.
Anderson Hosts Inaugural
Global Scaling Challenge

Anderson hosted its inaugural Global Scaling Challenge April 22-24, with 17 university teams participating from the United States, Europe and India, competing for more than $21,000 in awards and recognition.

Four teams took the top $8,000 prize: Indiana University Bloomington (Indiana), UNM Anderson School of Management (New Mexico), Stevens Institute of Technology (New Jersey) and Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria).

The challenge is a live and real case competition experience where the student teams presented to three small, entrepreneurial firms seeking to significantly scale their enterprises. The event was held virtually over three days.
The three-round competition tasked participating teams and mentors with working to understand and solve complex scaling needs and challenges of three real firms addressing current biological challenges in highly diverse environments. Teams consisted of up to four students at any postsecondary educational level and were mentored by faculty from their institutions to prepare for competition.

Special thanks to UNM and Anderson alumni judges: Robert Haak, Scott Herbert, Harold Lavender, Joel Matek, Michael Meyer, Genaro Montoya, John Oberg, Kerry Perry, Steven Renfro, Bob Sachs, Steve Schroeder, Jennifer Sinsabaugh, Bob Tierney and Julia Wise!
