On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce Andrea Butler as Executive Director of the Garden Club of Virginia effective February 15, 2021. Selected from over 80 applicants for this position, Andrea has 35 years of nonprofit and corporate experience for well-known brands including US Airways, Priceline and the National Aquarium in Baltimore. For the past 10 years she has held the chief fundraising and external relations roles for nonprofit organizations in the human services areas in Richmond, VA including the Massey Cancer Center, Better Housing Coalition and Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia.

Andrea has considerable experience in strategic communications and working with the news media. She has helped lead capital campaigns, secure grants and expand mission support. She has also helped orchestrate more than 50 special events. Andrea earned a B.A. in Communication Arts with a concentration in journalism from James Madison University.

A self-described ‘servant leader’ Andrea states: “The Garden Club of Virginia is a testament that women with commitment and conviction can create real change. Its accomplishments in the last 100 years are breathtaking, from restoring public gardens, conserving habitats, supporting Virginia State Parks and hosting “America’s Largest Open House,” in addition to educational programming and forums. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the Board, staff and members to guide this organization into its second century.”

I hope that you will join me in welcoming Andrea to the Garden Club of Virginia.
