History was made on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 as Ambassador Andrew J. Young led the "Let Freedom Ring" ceremony in song, "Woke up this morning with my mind stayed on Freedom", of the 50th anniversary of the "March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom." This historical event was held at the Lincoln Memorial -- the same location of the original march 50 years prior-- and included President Barack H. Obama and a host of  prestigious speakers, Former Presidents James "Jimmy" Carter and William "Bill" Clinton, U.S. Congressman John Lewis, Lynda Johnson Robb, Caroline Kennedy, Oprah Winfrey, Martin L,. King, III, and The Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King. We salute Ambassador Andrew J. Young for his dedication and service to the continued vision of  Dr. Martin Luther King's dream.

On Sunday, August 25, 2013, Howard University alum, Ambassador Andrew J. Young shared in a special screening of his latest documentary, "1963: The Year that Changed America" and conversation

with over 1,500 of  tomorrow's leaders--students of Howard University. The screening, held in Cramton Auditorium of the historic Howard University, was packed to capacity of young brilliant minds, anxious and  excited to hear the thoughts and sentiments of a living legend and civil rights leader. 
Many students were in awe and overwhelmed by the presence of such an esteemed trailblazer; any of whom flooded social media outlets with first hand accounts of their feelings and expressions throughout the conversation. 
Following the student conversation, WHUT/ Howard University Television invited  Ambassador Young to continue the discussion of the "March on Washington" with a candid conversation hosted by Howard Dodson, the director of the Moorland-Springarn and Howard University Libraries.  View Interview.

The Humanities Council of Washington, DC a non profit organization whose mission is "to transform lives through the power of the humanities," in partnership with the Andrew J. Young Foundation, commemorated of the 50th anniversary of the "March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom" with a special program --1963: Raising the Conscience of a Nation. This commemorative program was held on Monday August 26, 2013 at the conference center of the Hogan and Lovells law firm. The screening of the documentary "1963: The Year that Changed America," was followed by Ambassador Andrew J. Young in conversation with Washington, DC broadcast journalist Dr. J.C. Hayward. Dr. Hayward, the first female anchor of Washington, DC celebrates 40 years as an anchor at WUSA9 and was recently inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists' Hall of Fame.
