We are pleased to announce that Andy Hoffman will join the Graham Institute as Director of Education.
Beginning in September, Andy will lead the Graham Undergraduate Sustainability Scholars program, in addition to the doctoral and postdoctoral components of the Dow Sustainability Fellows Program.
"Andy's more than two decades as a sustainability leader and educator makes him an ideal candidate for this position," said Graham Institute Director, Don Scavia.
Currently, Andy is completing his term as Faculty Director of the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise. He is a long-time member of the Graham Executive Committee, where he has served as a reviewer for the Dow program. In addition, Andy has participated in a number of projects supported by the Graham Institute, including the Integrated Assessment project on Hydraulic Fracturing in Michigan.
"I am really looking forward to working with the Graham Scholars and the Dow Fellows," said Hoffman. "I have been told for years how impressive the undergraduates are in this program, and I know first hand how talented the doctoral and postdoctoral fellows are. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work so closely with all of them."
Andy will oversee the recruiting and selection processes, as well as the planning, scheduling and execution of program activities. He will serve as a mentor to program participants. Andy will also identify opportunities to strengthen sustainability-related transformative learning and partnerships across U-M schools and colleges.
