Cinco fun at Center Greens

Join us for a Cinco de Mayo celebration at Center Greens!

Things are a little different this year with work underway at La Palma Park, our usual spot for this event.

But Cinco will still be awesome.

This year, we're hosting a one-day party this Saturday — tomorrow — at Center Greens from 3-9 p.m.

We won't see our usual multiday carnival with rides, but there will be lots of fun for the whole family.

Festivities include food to buy and free entertainment, community booths and a kids zone.

Parking is next to Center Greens at the City Hall parking structure or at the red brick structure across from the Downtown Anaheim Community Center.

There's also some street parking available. But, as always, be thoughtful of those who live in the area.

State of the City: celebrating Anaheim

Our 2025 State of the City was a celebration of all things Anaheim.

Mayor Ashleigh Aitken was welcomed to the stage at the Grove of Anaheim by Disneyland’s own Dapper Dans, a classic barber shop quartet that are a tradition in our city dating back to 1959.

Mayor Aitken outlined Anaheim’s fun and sometimes quirky history with the Anaheim Amigos basketball team and Anaheim chili peppers and gave a shoutout to friends from the only other city that comes close to us in name: Annaheim, Saskatchewan, a village of about 200 people in central Canada.

We celebrated being the first of many great things, including the first city in Orange County and birthplace of Disneyland, Vans and Northgate, among other favorites.

We also recognized some amazing things to come with OCVibe, Honda Center hosting indoor volleyball for the 2028 Olympics, DisneylandForward, a new fire station and efforts to advance affordable housing, all with a focus on our residents and neighborhoods.

We celebrated Anaheim as a city of the world with news about Guadalajara, Jalisco, in the works as our next sister city.

This event helped raise $50,000 for the nonprofit Anaheim Community Foundation for youth, families, seniors and others in our community.

Thank you to all who joined us and a special shoutout to this year’s emcee, Rachel Brown of ABC7 Eyewitness News, who did an incredible job!

Road work ahead for the 91

Change is on the way for the Riverside (91) Freeway in east Anaheim. Here's a heads-up for what to expect.

The 91 Improvement Project improve a 5-mile stretch from the 57 to 55 freeways by creating lanes, bridges and other upgrades for commuters.

This project, by the Orange County Transportation Authority, will be done in three phases through mid-2029.

When complete, this project will improve the freeway for our residents and visitors.

This project will create better connections across Anaheim, including for Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Honda Center, OCVibe, Anaheim Canyon and more.

The road ahead will have its construction challenges and impacts. But the project will make travel smoother and more efficient for the future.

Anyone who has ever had to merge across several lanes to get off at Lakeview Avenue knows the struggle is real!
