Homer opener at the Big A

Baseball is back in Anaheim!

The 2026 Angels Baseball season is officially underway with the home opener set for Friday, April 3, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

The Angels take on the Seattle Mariners as fans fill the Big A.

There is nothing like game days in Anaheim — warm weather, baseball fans and your favorite ballpark snacks.

From classic hot dogs and helmet ice cream to loaded nachos and even new treats such as Dubai chocolate waffles, there's something delicious for everyone.

And the excitement doesn't stop there! Across the freeway, the Anaheim Ducks are hitting the ice to play the St. Louis Blues.

The Ducks are enjoying their best season in years with the playoff hopes heating up and fans ready to cheer them on!

This is what Anaheim is all about! We're proud to be a city where sports and entertainment bring our community and sports fans together.

Help for struggling Anaheim renters

Keeping up with rent and housing costs can be overwhelming, especially during unexpected life changes.

The Stay Housed Anaheim Program is here to help renters facing financial hardships and who need a little extra help to stay housed.

This program offers one-time financial assistance of up to $3,500 for eligible Anaheim renters.

Support can include up to $3,000 toward emergency rent assistance or a security deposit, with an additional $500 for utilities when requested together.

To qualify, applicants must show that they are able to keep their housing after receiving one-time help with documentation of ongoing income or other means of support.

The program is intended as a one-time resource, and those who receive assistance will be ineligible to reapply for at least five years.

Households currently receiving rental help — such as Section 8 or other voucher programs — are ineligible. Renters who live in affordable housing but pay full rent, as well as those who previously received assistance through programs such as Emergency Rental Assistance Program or Senior Safety Net, may still apply.

Apply at Anaheim.net/StayHoused.

Applications are received on a first-come, first-served basis as funds are available. Please note that applying does not guarantee approval.

If approved, payments are made directly to a landlord or utility provider, which must be willing to accept payment on the applicant’s behalf.

For more, visit Anaheim.net/StayHoused or call (714) 765-4300, ext. 4890, or email StayHoused@anaheim.net.

Design Anaheim's America 250 poster

Artists and creative types in Anaheim have a chance to represent the city in a national celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

They're invited to enter the America 250 City Art Poster Project, a nationwide initiative led by the U.S. Conference of Mayors in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. One selected design will represent Anaheim in the national project.

Artwork should celebrate America’s 250th anniversary while reflecting Anaheim’s history, civic pride and community spirit.

Posters
must be nonpartisan, include no political messages or inflammatory language, and incorporate the words “Anaheim” and “America 250.”

The contest is open to artists and creatives age 13 and older who live, work, attend school, volunteer or otherwise participate in community life in Anaheim. Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to enter.

Submissions must be original and suitable for public display and reproduction.

City staff will review submissions and select up to 20 entries for consideration by the Cultural and Heritage Commission. The commission will recommend the top three entries, and the mayor’s office will make the final selection.

Submissions are due by April 14

For more information and to enter, visit Anaheim.net/250.

Get your home summer ready

We got a taste of summer early with an unseasonably warm March — a reminder that now's a great time to get ready for more hot days just around the corner.

Summer brings fun to Anaheim but also the highest bills of the year as air conditioning use increases.

Anaheim Public Utilities, our city's not-for-profit provider of power and water, serves our city with typical household electrical bills that are up to 50 percent lower than neighboring cities.

But bills are based on what's actually used, bringing higher summertime bills with more usage.

The weeks ahead are a good time to get ready by taking advantage of programs designed to ease summer bills.

The Anaheim Public Utilities A/C Tune-Up Rebate Program provides residential customers a rebate of up to $100 (and up to $150 for income-qualified customers) for getting a basic tune-up service on their air conditioning.

Just schedule a tune-up service with a licensed HVAC contractor and apply for the rebate online or by mail with an application and invoice showing service.

You can take advantage of this program once every 12 months, with applications submitted within a year of a tune-up service.

Another pro-tip: schedule a Home Utility Check-Up to have one of our contracted professionals do a personalized review of your home energy and water use, with an eye toward making bills as efficient as possible.

This is an entirely free program and free of any sales activity.

A Home Utility Check-Up can be done every five years. If eligible, you can schedule yours by calling Anaheim Public Utilities at (714) 765-4274.
