The Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Art Center could not have made it through this past year WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT! We continue our mission and the ability to provide art education and diverse experiences to everyone. Due to unknown circumstances and out of necessity, we have learned many lessons. As we pause and reflect, one of the crucial outcomes appears to be that the need for expression and art has never been more powerful. Needless to say, our in-person winter classes are filling up fast!
What we want you to know is that the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center made it through these uncharted times; THANKS TO YOU! We continue to count our blessings. At the beginning of 2021, we were still providing virtual art classes. Now, our Charles Lo Bue Gallery is open to the public! You will be thrilled with the lineup of Gallery exhibits our Exhibition Committee, led by Sheila Batson and Talli Larrick, have developed for the coming year. After our current “Small Town Big Art” exhibit ends, we will begin our "Gift It" exhibit on November 19 - talk about great shopping for the holidays! You won't want to miss this opportunity for unique, artisan gifts.
Alas, this year, we also published a book showcasing 100 of our amazing Carpinteria artists, "Small Town, Big Art." This was David Powdrell’s vision and besides the book's well-thought-out layout and superb quality, the book is beautiful! It is also "big," weighing in at almost five pounds, for $50.00. What great gifts for the holidays and 100% of the profits go to the Carpinteria Arts Center. On December 18, we'll host a book signing event. Everyone who purchases our book can have their books signed by a large group of artists on-site and available for this unique opportunity! Another gift idea coming from the Carpinteria Arts Center.
Over the summer, we provided seven weeks of youth summer camps that focused on music, performing arts, various art forms, the Teen Mural Project, and more. We also continue our After School Art Programs. Our young students come from diverse backgrounds, and we provide 100% scholarships for any student in need. There were also three fully attended summer concerts (250 guests), free to the public. Numerous groups continue to use our Koch Courtyard, including Rotary groups, the Arts & Crafts Marketplace, as well as lessons for ukulele, guitar, and flower designs classes, using orchids.
During this Holiday season, On December 4, we are hosting a Holiday Festival for the community, complete with snow, hot cocoa, sing-a-longs, Reynaldo's famous tamales, and photo opportunities. Later in the month, on December 19, we partner with the Carpinteria Children's Project for a Posada Celebration. On December 18, we'll host a book signing event. Everyone who purchases our book can have their book signed by a large group of artists on-site for this unique opportunity!
Clearly, your donations have made a enormous difference in your Carpinteria Arts Center. Still, we cannot continue without your support. If you are able, please contribute to our year-end appeal, enabling us to continue our good works for the community of Carpinteria.
We wish you a joyous and peaceful holiday.
Many thanks,
Linda Rosso
