Email Express "extra edition"

Email Express is distributed weekly on Tuesdays as part of the district's efforts to keep parents updated. Occasionally, PISD needs to communicate a message directly to parents, but prefers not to wait for the routine email, so it is necessary to send out an "extra edition."

Watch your inbox Nov. 12 for the next scheduled edition of Email Express.

For additional communication platforms, like the Princeton ISD Facebook page and follow Twitter @princetonisd to stay up-to-date, as well. These accounts are also linked to the district website at www.princetonisd.net, so you do not need social media to see the postings. In addition, Princeton ISD has an official Instagram page to showcase photos from around the district. Follow @PrincetonISD on Instagram to see the kids in action.

Angels still need to be adopted

christmas_tree_jolly.jpg

Angel Tree adoptions are underway, and there are still angels who need assistance.

The number of less fortunate students who need help to have a nice Christmas increases every year. In turn, more help is needed to assist the less fortunate students in Princeton ISD during Christmas.

The Angel Tree program is now in its 17th year and is sponsored by the Lions Club, in conjunction with Princeton ISD, to give back to the community.

The counselors on each Princeton ISD campus work with families applying for assistance via online applications, which are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Their need is verified using information from the free- and reduced-meal program, and other considerations can be made, including any new financial burdens a family may be facing.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, Nov. 20, and Angel Tree adoptions continue until Monday, Dec. 2.

For the past 16 years, Lions Club has been able to assist every eligible Angel Tree applicant,

For 2023, 1,154 children from 388 families were adopted through Angel Tree, which was an additional 358 angels and 110 families from the previous year.

Distribution to families will begin Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Adoption guidelines

Procedures for adopting an angel:

- Request angels at this link:

https://www.vancoevents.com/us/events/landing/46804?

- Guideline: Spend approximately $75 per child to purchase items from their wish list, including toys and clothes.

- Clearly mark all unwrapped presents with the Family and Child number from the adoption form. Donors are asked to use removable labels with the Family and Child number so the items will not have handwriting on them.

- Drop-off deadline is Monday, Dec. 9, which is an important deadline to ensure families have what they need before school is out for Christmas break. The drop-off location for all donations will be the PISD Administration Building, 321 Panther Parkway.

- If someone cannot afford to adopt an entire child, pair up to adopt a child.

- Make a monetary donation at any campus, administration office, Peoples Bank or Independent Financial (checks payable to Princeton Lions Club); or

- Sponsor a portion of a child by selecting from the Angel Tree at either Peoples Bank, Independent Financial, the Chamber of Commerce or the City of Princeton. Individual items, including toys or clothing, will be available.

For more information, call 469-952-5400 or stop by the PISD Administration Office at 321 Panther Pkwy.
