Animal Health + Human Health + Planet Health = One Health

Animal Health Week (AHW) is an annual, national public awareness campaign organized by the CVMA & celebrated by veterinarians across Canada. Through AHW, the veterinary community draws attention to an important health-related message every year.
From October 3 – 9, 2021, the CVMA will celebrate the 36th AHW by raising awareness of the One Health concept – an interdisciplinary approach to complex issues that benefits from a variety of professionals’ knowledge, backgrounds, & perspectives. This year’s slogan, Animal Health + Human Health + Planet Health = One Health, helps explain the One Health concept & the 2021 campaign showcases how Canada’s veterinary professionals occupy unique positions within the national One Health community in protecting animal health which, in turn, protects everyone’s health.

Companion animals' ability to play endless roles in human's lives is miraculous. The mark of a first pet in your heart, the emotional support animals provide trauma victims, and the freedom & independence guide dogs provide are all examples of animals' love & companionship that plays vital roles in many lives. Many consider their pets as family members, making the onset of illness/disease or unexpected loss even more devastating because financial constraints often force people to make agonizing choices regarding their furry family members. Petcard alleviates stress and mitigates high treatment costs as Canada’s premier veterinary procedure financing option by providing flexible, affordable payment options, enabling veterinary care access. Financial concerns also impact animal healthcare workers by making difficult job aspects increasingly hard. Providing payment alternatives can positively affect companion animals' physical health and the emotional well-being of their caretakers and veterinary health team. CVMA members receive exclusive benefits, incentives, & rewards. Visit petcard.ca or call 1-888-689-9876.
