Kristina Colbun discovered what it means to be a kitten foster by following the stories of a Seattle-area foster parent on Instagram. She knew right away that this was something she wanted to do herself so she reached out to KHS and started learning more about fostering from another KHS foster, Liz Thayer. Kristina officially kicked off her KHS foster career with a very special mother and son adult cat duo who were in our care through our Pet Protection Program.

“She lavished these two with attention, even while she was pining away for her first set of kitten fosters,” said KHS Foster Lead, Gina. “Kristina has since become a mom and babies professional, making great use of her dedicated foster room to comfortably house complete feline families.”

Before her foster journey began, Kristina knew that she wanted to add a few feline friends to her own family and while fostering allowed her to do so temporarily, she soon found what she was looking for in two of her fosters, EVA and her daughter Bessie. These two wonderful kitties are so lucky to have been adopted by such a loving forever family!

“Kitten season came just as we were ready to reunite my first fosters with their family,” said Kristina.“Mama Bluegrass and her little Garden Kittens were next, followed by Cookie and her Divas. Currently, I also have my first two bottle babies (now weaned) who will be with me for another 4-5 weeks as they cruise on up to 2lbs.

"KHS has been a wonderful rescue to work with. Gina and Holly (foster staff) have been an awesome support line along with the community of fosters I am a part of.”
