Animal of the Month
Are you into those shy guys who take some time to come out of their shells but once they do, they're a real catch? If so, Bagel is the cat for you.

If you need help setting boundaries, Bagel will show you the way. However, once you win him over, there's nothing he dislikes. Treats? Perfect. Pets?
Yes, please.

Bagel is a cat's cat. He will do best in a home with a loving cat sibling that will show him the ropes. If you walk by the rescue, you can almost always count on seeing Bagel sunning himself in the window with his pals. All the cats at SDO can't get enough of this guy!

Found as a kitten with his siblings who have all been adopted into loving homes, Bagel is the last of his family at SDO. His siblings have all blossomed in their new digs and we know Bagel will, too!

Behind Bagel's rugged good looks (check out that beard!) is a goofy cat looking for the perfect, patient forever family who knows that this guy will need some time to come around to full-lap cat mode. He loves to play and if you have a laser pointer or a wand toy handy, you're bound to get his attention.

Oh, and like a lotta young guys, the way to his heart is through his stomach, so hand over the treats and he will begin to open up. With a confident cat companion to lean on, Bagel will be the new family member of your dreams.
Bagel is ready for his forever home, could it be with you?

Volunteer of the Month
Meet our volunteer of all trades: Desi!

Santé D’Or is thankful to have volunteers who continue to come to their shifts year after year. Our volunteer of the month, Desi, is a great example!

Volunteering regularly since 2017, Desi does more than just come to her Thursday night shifts. She’s often fostering kittens, and is also an expert TNR-taxi: transporting our recently fixed street cats from their spay/neuter appointments to the rescue for some TLC before they are released back to their homelands.

Though it’s hard for her to narrow down a favorite, Desi has a soft spot for Bagel, the brother of a pair of kittens she considers to be her fur-nephews, now living happily with her close friend who adopted them! Oh, and like all of us, she can’t get enough of the queen bee, Violet Chachki.
She’s got some great advice for volunteers who are interested in fostering but are afraid of saying goodbye:

“I know a lot of people think it will be too heartbreaking, but it is so lovely to help wee ones become someone’s new best friend. It really is just a shift in how you look at the process of fostering. The goal is getting them adopted. (But I still cry! That’s okay too!) There are opportunities to do a short-term foster shift, so that could be a great way to try it out without too many tears.”

Desi is no stranger to cat parenthood. She has a sixteen-year-old polydactyl tabby named Omar at home... who is a big brother to her current brood of 5 foster kittens!

Kitten season is in full swing here in Los Angeles. Feeling inspired by Desi's foster tips? Apply to become a foster here!

Thank you so much, Desi for your continued love and dedication
to all of the animals at Santé D’Or.
