We know many of you want to help the thousands of pets, equines and livestock affected by the devastating storms and floods.
As always in the aftermath of a natural disaster, many groups and individuals step up to help in many ways. Relief efforts and programs supporting long-term recovery will develop in the coming weeks and months.
Right now, the focus is on Animal Search and Rescue (ASAR), veterinary care, sheltering, feed, water and supplies, and transporting animals and supplies.
The organizations below are currently on scene, helping coordinate and conduct operations to provide water, food, care and rescue to companion animals in devastated areas of North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
As the situation evolves, we’ll keep you posted when we learn of local programs and funds that will sustain the long-term recovery and welfare of animals and their people, whose lives have been changed forever by Hurricane Helene.
As we write this, we are just a few days from the “anniversary” of our own terrible firestorms in October 2017. The outpouring of support and aid is unforgettable. When disaster strikes others, we feel fortunate to be in a position to help.
