Greetings Osprey Community,

Juniors in Ashley Carruth's Humanities class have been diligently preparing for their exhibition next Thursday, from 12:30 to 3:30 at the La Plata County Courthouse, where they will engage in a mock trial for the Supreme Court case Korumatsu v. United States.  This case, argued in 1944, challenged and ultimately upheld the constitutionality of internment camps for Japanese American citizens during WWII.  In our society today, the forced relocation and incarceration of American citizens has come to be viewed as a discriminatory practice that violates individual rights.  Come see how the case will turn out this time around!

college counselor Jess Adams visited with AHS alum Hannah Langford (class of '16), Will Smock-Egan (class of '15) and Nick Tarasewicz (class of '16) during her visit to University of Denver last weekend

Tina Hott is seeking a full-sized refrigerator for her Biology classroom.  Do you have one that you're able to donate, so she can safely continue to store specimens for dissection?  Her old fridge has gone kaput.  Please contact Tina directly at tina.hott@animashighschool.com.

We're also looking for parent support in getting our students to XBlock on Wednesday afternoons, leaving school at 1:40 and transporting to Catacombs CrossFit on East 8th Street near Horse Gulch.  The rest of our off-campus XBlock classes travel by bus, but CossFit relies upon drivers.  If you're able to help, please let Bridget know in the main office; you can contact her at main.office@animashighschool.com.

As a reminder, school will be closed on Monday for the Martin Luther King holiday.  Enjoy the three day weekend and many thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!

Many thanks to our awesome AHS Alumni who came to offer advice about college to our juniors and seniors during Advisory this week!
Want to learn more about how standardized tests connect to college admissions? Join AHS college counselor Jess Adams and Head of School Sean Woytek for an Osprey Parent Talk
on Wednesday, January 25 from 5:00 to 6:30 at AHS.  Jess and Sean will demystify the variety of tests students take, what the scores mean and how colleges use them in the admissions process.  This talk is geared primarily for juniors and their families, but all are welcome.
