Greetings Osprey Community,

What is true happiness? What is your personal truth of happiness? Heady questions, to be sure, and ones our 9th graders have been considering deeply in their latest Humanities project.  As part of the project, students have created truly impressive short films exploring the nature of happiness and how to cultivate it; view those from Sara Price's classes here to learn more and to hear our students' powerful voices.

In their happiness film, Susan, Ori and Zeke explore the importance of  connection.  We hope that Osprey students and families will take advantage of the opportunity to connect with our community tomorrow for the Osprey Spring Clean.  We'll gather from 10:00 to 1:00 to spruce up the campus--planting flowers, spreading gravel, hauling trash, doing repairs, etc.  Bring your work gloves, garden gloves and your whole family and let's get the nest cleaned up for spring!  Many thanks to Osprey parent Leigh Bright and AHS co-founder Jesse Hutt for organizing this event.

We also appreciate all the work Osprey parent Marla Stills has put into organizing Osprey After Prom.  AHS Prom and After Prom are on Saturday, April 8--the Saturday after we return from spring break.  Juniors and seniors can purchase tickets in the main office and freshmen and sophomores may attend as guests.  We are seeking parent support for After Prom and there are a variety of ways to help, including set up, running activities at the event, making financial contributions and more.  Please refer to  this letter we sent out earlier this week to families of juniors and seniors; it outlines all the volunteer roles. Contact Marla directly to sign up so we can create a safe drug and alcohol-free place for our students to continue celebrating once prom ends.

Osprey Week begins Monday and we're excited for students and staff to embark on adventures near and far.  Full itineraries and group lists are on the Osprey Week website.   We'll have groups exploring in the wilderness in Canyonlands, Goblin Valley, the Salt River, Sedona, the San Juans and even Thailand!  Ospreys will be touring colleges, working with rescue dogs, learning avalanche safety, discussing foreign films, developing their culinary skills, metal smithing, building robots, rafting, practicing yoga, shredding the gnar, hiking and more.  We love Osprey Week because of what it does for our school culture--strengthening student-teacher relationships and helping students forge friendships across grade levels that they might not otherwise build.  Check the AHS Facebook page throughout the week for photos of Ospreys out and about.
