Greetings Osprey Community,
As we prepare to head into our Thanksgiving Break, we have much to be grateful for as a community, including, first and foremost, our amazing students, our outstanding staff and our supportive families. Our school thrives because so many work hard to make it so. We are also thankful for all the community support we receive; guest speakers, community partnerships, volunteers and donors all play a critical role in our school's success.

That support was abundant this week at the Osprey Games, where we raised enough to put us more than halfway towards our fundraising goal for the year. Thank you to all who helped make the event a success, including our sponsors Alpine Bank, The Payroll Department, Jaynes Corporation, Fort Lewis College and Durango Motor Company. It's certainly not too late to support of our school, and we strive for 100% participation from our families. You can make a donation in person or online anytime by visiting our website

When we return from break, we will have just two weeks of classes and then a full week devoted to Presentations of Learning (POLs) before the first semester wraps up. As you may have seen in the
Durango Herald, this week the AHS Board approved a change in our enrollment policy that opens a handful of spots to new 9th, 10th and 11th grade students at the start of the second semester. We look forward to welcoming new Ospreys to the nest mid-year! For more details or to learn how to enroll, please visit our website
here or reach out to our registrar Laurel Rodd at
registrar@animashighschool.com.
Please remember that Monday, November 28 is a professional development day for our staff and classes resume on Tuesday. the 29th. Mark your calendars now for three exhibitions that week, with sophomores presenting an
Ecology Exhibition from 5:30 to 7:30pm on Wednesday, November 30 at the County Fairgrounds, freshmen unveiling their Rube Goldberg machines for a
Physics Exhibition on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00pm at AHS and seniors participating in
Model Senate Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (times and locations below).
We hope that you all find time and space to connect with friends and family, rest, play and rejuvenate over the break. Many thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
