NEWSLETTER DOMAIN CHANGE

Google and Yahoo!'s new message authentication guidelines for email senders went into effect February 1. Many other mass email services have already adopted these standards and it was giving us a lot of trouble the last few weeks with the newsletter suddenly filtering to spam boxes.

After a few tweeks to our email service, the final solution was to switch to our service providers server for message authentication, so as of last week the newsletter will be coming from the domain:

newsletter@animecorner.ccsend.com

We did this for the first time last week and it solved the spam folder problem for most of our subscribers. If you find the newsletter is still going to spam or your bulk mail folder, just white list the above send from address and that should take care of it.

QUICK REMINDER ABOUT SITE SEARCH

Just a quick reminder, while the RACS store site is meant to be super quick and easy to navigate, if you want to use site search to find what you are looking for, the best method is to search two or three keywords from a title. If you want search to find only the result related to your search string, just put the search phrase in quotes "". For example, search for "bocchi the rock" in quotes and the store will only display exactly what matches that string.

Also, since we usually list all manga and novel volumes of a series on a single page, you dont need to search for "My Senpai is Annoying Vol #11" but just "my senpai is annoying" to get to where you want to go.

A NOTE ABOUT CRUNCHYMATION'S MOVE

WIth Crunchymation's upcoming transition from SDS to SPHV for retail distribution of their Anime titles, I wanted to make a quick observation about availability. Having been through these sorts of transitions many times before, I'm pretty sure we can anticipate some blackout periods in availability of certain titles as they are moved from one warehouse to the other, or are left to run out prior to the move and not re-pressed until the other end is up and running. There will probably be unexpected shortages that crop up during March and April, both with new Anime releases and catalog items that are printed by Crunchymation, so just sort of an FYI. We'll do our best to keep their stuff in stock, especially their new and recent releases, so their transition is as transparent as possible to you.

STORE STUFF - WHAT'S NEW @ RACS THIS WEEK!!

We have a ton of new Anime releases in stock this week, with a few quite a bit early, so we have been filling pre-orders like crazy! We have the My Life as Inukai-san's Dog BLURAY in stock two weeks early from Sentai and it is now shipping. From Crunchymation we got in the Bocchi The Rock!: The Complete Season BLURAY, Handyman Saitou in Another World BLURAY, the very long titled Ningen Fushin: Adventurers Who Dont Believe in Humanity Will Save the World The Complete Season BLURAY, the The Case Study of Vanitas Season 1 Part 2 BLURAY, and the new Revenger BLURAY. And from Viz we finally have enough JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean Part 1 BLURAY (Limited Edition) to make it available for new orders. We also got in the Naruto Shippuden Set 2 BLURAY (Eps #28-55) and the Sailor Moon SuperS (Season 4) Complete BLURAY (Eps #128-166), also from Viz.

We added the recently announced Blue Giant Movie BLURAY from G-Kids for pre-order. It's due to begin shipping on April 30th.

We had another gigantic manga update this week with 76 new volumes arriving! Notable new arrivals include Berserk Deluxe Edition #14 (Hardcover), Chainsaw Man Vol #14, Great Cleric , Vol #7, Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World Vol #8, Moon on a Rainy Night Vol #3, Slow Life In Another World (I Wish!) Vol #6, White Mage Doesn't Want to Raise the Hero's Level Vol #1 and too many more to list!

And finally, while we have not announced them in stock on the site yet, but most of Discotek's January releases have started to arrive and we are currently processing pre-orders for them. All of their Jan releases are now on the dock except for UY4, which should arrive later today. We have A LOT of pre-orders for these so please be patient and give us a couple of business days to get them all shipped out. Thanks!

LICENSE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Seven Seas Entertainment announced on Wednesday that it has licensed the Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – A Journey of Two Lifetimes [Special Book], Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – Recollections, and Mushoku Tensei: Redundant Reincarnation light novel volumes.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – A Journey of Two Lifetimes [Special Book] will debut digitally and physically in a large-trim edition in August. The book is a collection that includes the "History of Mushoku Tensei," short stories, a one-shot manga, an interview, and more.

In 2002, the anime world was graced with the presence of the Ghost in the Shell franchise on the small screen with Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (popularly known as S.A.C.). The series took viewers on a thriller crime drama as the members of Public Security Section 9 solved a case revolving around the Laughing Man. And when was the first incident involving the Laughing Man publicly revealed in S.A.C.? Tomorrow - February 3, 2024 at 7:21 a.m. JST.

The Numbers website confirmed on Sunday that Godzilla Minus One, Takashi Yamazaki's new film in TOHO's Godzilla franchise, has earned the equivalent of US$102,496,330 globally. It earned an estimated US$55,009,463 in the United States and US$47,486,867 internationally. Deadline reported on Sunday that the film has now become the third highest-grossing foreign-language film of all time in the United States, surpassing 2002's Hero and 2019's Parasite. The top two spots belong to 2000's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (US$129 million) and 1997's Life is Beautiful (US$57.6 million).

The Box Office Mojo website estimates the total U.S. earning of Hayao Miyazaki's latest feature film The Boy and the Heron at US$44,237,878, as of Sunday. This makes the film the third highest-grossing anime film in the U.S., beating Pokémon the Movie 2000, which had earned US$43.8 million. The 1998 anime film Pokémon: The First Movie tops the highest-grossing anime list with US$85.7 million. Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, which premiered in the U.S. in 2021, comes in second with US$49.5 million.

The Sankei Shimbun newspaper and Kobe Shimbun NEXT news website reported on January 19 that 11 people were arrested by the joint forces of the Hyogo Prefectural Police's Cyber Investigation Division and the Gunma prefectural police for suspected fraudulent activity of creating fake accounts to purchase several units of an unspecified game console and resell it. The 11 men and women arrested — including a 17-year old high school student and a 19-year old company executive — were accused of creating multiple fake accounts to register on an electronics retailer's online site on October 16 to purchase 18 game console units, with an estimated amount of 684,000 yen (about US$4,627). The game console units were allegedly delivered to an apartment building in Nagoya.

Amazon Prime will premiere its [Oshi No Ko] live action series, produced by Toei Company, Ltd., this winter, the streamer announced. [Oshi No Ko], by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, is a best-selling manga series for U.S. publisher Yen Press; the manga series has sold 15 million copies worldwide. The anime is also a hit; Idol, the theme song, is the first Japanese-language song to top the U.S. Billboard Global Charts.
