It's another happy Friday here at Anime Corner World Headquarters!

Good afternoon everyone! Even though today is my birthday (don't ask - old) the crew has still shackled me to this desk to crank out this weeks newsletter. Little do they know - this is exactly where I want to be Brahahahahahaha!

It's been a super busy week and I have a ton of news and updates to pass on, plus plenty of new Anime and Manga releases to tell you about. We've really got some great stuff in store for you this week!

Busy busy week, so quite a few things I want to touch on in this issue...

Ready!!!???

Crunchymation bumped the release date for BOTH versions of the upcoming The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 BLURAY/DVD back two weeks from Feb 25th to March 11th, They also bumped the release date for the The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You Season 1 BLURAY back three weeks from March 4th to March 25th. If you have an order currently holding for these and want to make a change, just let us know.

The Japanese release of the The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD + BLURAY Remastered Set (Japanese Import) arrived on time and all pre-orders have now been filled. For those of you who are US customers and pre-ordered choosing premium shipping (which is anything other than super saver) we included a little exclusive extra that I'm sure you're going to like. The only copy of DYRL I had prior to this release was a digital rip from an old fan subbed VHS tape I acquired over 20 years ago, so I'm super excited to watch my 4K copy this weekend! :-)

My regular weekly blog post listing the new manga we added to the site got flagged in violation of community guidelines by google's bots. After some investigating we still haven't determined what manga title is triggering Google, and of course, they won't tell us. So if you are wondering why the page has a warning, not our fault. Way to go Google!

Justin announced AnimEigo's release of the Nobody's Boy Remi BLURAY this week, scheduled for release on May 11th. I just wanted to clip in a blurb from his description of the show:

"Remi is a very unique show. Not only is it from the legendary team of director Osamu Dezaki and Character Designer/Animation Director Akio Sugino (who, together, worked on Tomorrow's Joe, Aim for the Ace, Rose of Versailles, Space Adventure Cobra, and many more)... but it's the first and only 3-D anime series ever made. How was this possible in 1977? It didn't use any of the technology we currently use for 3-D, but rather a technique called the pulfrich effect, which is an optical illusion of depth created by lateral movement. The end result is near constant motion of layered backgrounds and effects: 51 episodes of intense surreal imagery."

Sounds pretty trippy dude! ;-) Remy will include Japanese language dialog with English subtitles plus the French dub track and a pair of free 3D glasses.

Even though we pre-ordered a pretty significant number of copies, our entire initial shipment of the Apothecary Diaries Season 1 Part 1 BLURAY sold out only a couple days after release. Basically there was a copy on almost every order we processed from over this past weekend. We do have more copies inbound from Sony, and those should be here around the 5th or 6th of February, so if you have an order in waiting for one it will be shipping out shortly.

Just a heads up that G-Kids is going to re-release Wolf Children on 4K in August. We'll put that up for pre-order as soon as they send out the official solicitation.

We got in a backordered case of the Ubel Blatt Deluxe Edition #1 Graphic Novel (Hardcover), and all still had the mis-print problem from our original shipment that came in the first week of January. All are going back to Yen and I was really surprised they are still shipping the books with the defect (they are missing page# 67 and have two page #66). So again, we will replace these books for our customers who bought it from RACS as soon as Yen sees fit to ship us good ones. Since Yen prints their books in South Korea, I imagine this will take a little time.

I just hope they can get corrected copies into the US before any tariffs might start kicking in bc we don't want corrected copies that suddenly cost $75, and this got me thinking (completely apolitically bc we don't do that in this space...) about how many US manga and lite novel publishers print overseas and how tariffs are going to effect our hobby. Seven Seas prints many titles in Hong Kong and several other publishers print in Canada. A LOT of US release manga are printed in Canada. Even on the video side, many BluRay pressors are located in Mexico, so if goods from these regions end up being tariffed, and if those tariffs effect our particular products, one of two things is likely to happen. Either supply chains will remain the same and prices will go up to reflect the level of tariff, or production of these items will have to hastily be moved to the US, which in the long term may also cause some price increases, but in the short term will probably really cause chaos with the 1st and 2nd quarter release schedules. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

And finally, I wanted to mention for everyone who has been waiting patiently for Yen Press to restock us on Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian #2 and #4, Yen says they should be shipping #2 to us shortly and #4 around the middle of February. I'm keeping my fingers! ;-)

I don't even think Justin knows that we already have it. ;-) From Crunchymation we got in A Certain Magical Index III (Season 3) BLURAY, the JUJUTSU KAISEN Hidden inventory/Premature Death (Season 2) BLURAY/DVD, the The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash The Complete Season BLURAY, and the One Piece Season 14 Part 2 DVD/BD Combo Set (Uncut) (Eps # 904–916). And in stock from Sentai is the My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Complete Three Season Collection (Seasons 1-3) BLURAY.

We posted G-Kids re-release of the Summer Wars the Movie BLURAY for pre-order this week. AnimEigo also announced their release of the Nobody's Boy Remi BLURAY for May, and that is now up for pre-order on the store site as well.

We only had a dribble of new books in this week - until this morning that is - when an entire truck load of new stuff arrived! And finally, we got in the Japanese release of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD + BLURAY Remastered Set (Japanese Import). It's in stock and shipping now. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that we included a special edition Japanese Macross poster with all US pre-orders that selected a premium shipping method. We have about 60 of these excellent posters remaining, and will include one as a free gift for any US orders of the DYRL set as long as you select a premium shipping method for your order (which is any method other than Super Saver).

Dark Horse Comics has announced an omnibus edition of Yasuhiro Nightow’s Blood Blockade Battlefront. The first omnibus volume will have a standard manga trim size and will include Vols. 1-3 of the original as well as the story “E-Den of the Master Fighters” from Vol. 4. The 672-page paperback will be released on July 15, 2025, with an MSRP of $29.99. Dark Horse initially published the series as 10 single volumes from 2011-2018. The story of a young man with specially enhanced eyesight who fights monsters impinging on a future version of New York City was adapted into an anime.

VIZ Media has announced a number of new manga and books for Fall 2025, including an omnibus edition of Nana, a new Junji Ito story collection, and more. Moan, by Junji Ito, is a new collection of short stories that bring horror into everyday life in his characteristic style. The title story features a drainpipe that moans filling the house of a germophobe family with horror. Flowers in the shape of eyeballs, a woman who offers to give away her blood, and more bring the ancient horrors into modern life. Ito’s work sells well in both bookstores and comic shops, and his Uzumaki is back on the best-seller lists at the moment thanks to the recent anime. The 272-page hardcover will go on sale on October 7, 2025, with an MSRP of $25.00.

Nintendo announced on Thursday that its Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store in Japan will no longer accept payments made with credit cards issued overseas, and PayPal accounts that were opened overseas starting on March 25, to "prevent fraudulent use." Nintendo asks customers who previously used credit cards or PayPal accounts issued and created overseas to use other payment methods such as credit cards issued in Japan. Nintendo is slated to release its Switch 2 system later this year.

Viz Media confirmed on Tuesday that its X/Twitter account has been hacked. The company added that the account is currently being rectified. Viz's X/Twitter account currently has a name that only consists of a period and no profile picture. Since Monday, the account has reposted several posts by the X/Twitter "Safety" and "Engineering" accounts. On Monday, the hacked account had made several posts about cryptocurrency and a "$VIZ" Digital Token, and those posts have since been deleted. Although a $VIZ token exists, it is not affiliated with Viz Media.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced on Tuesday the appointment of Hideaki Nishino as SIE's president and CEO, effective on April 1. Additionally, Hiroki Totoki will step down from his position as SIE chairman to become president and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, and current SIE senior vice president for Finance of Corporate Strategy and Development Lin Tao will step down from her position to become chief financial officer of Sony Group Corporation. Both appointments will be effective on April 1, and Tao's successor at SIE will be announced at a later date.

Box Office Mojo lists that The Colors Within (Kimi no Iro), the latest anime feature film by Science SARU and director Naoko Yamada, ranked #16 and earned US$378,022 in its opening weekend in the United States. The film screened in 5570 theaters. The film earned US$150,545 on Friday, $127,144 on Saturday, and US$100,333 on Sunday.

Netflix announced on Tuesday that it will raise subscription prices on many plans in the U.S. and other markets. Netflix's Standard plan without ads in the U.S. will rise from US$15.49 per month to US$17.99 per month. Netflix last raised the price on this plan in January 2022. Additionally, Netflix will raise the cost of its ad-supported tier from US$6.99 to US$7.99 per month. The cost of the Premium subscription tier will rise from US$22.99 to US$24.99 per month. Lastly, the cost of adding an "Extra Member" to a primary account will increase from US$7.99 to US$8.99 per month.

Manga Planet announced last week that payment method provider Stripe will no longer make payments on Manga Planet due to R18 (Restricted 18+) content on the subscription service. Manga Planet's account with stripe was suspended and banned. Manga Planet Pass Holders (or "subscribers") will not get their Pass renewed. Users affected by the Stripe ban will have access to their Pass until the expiration date, but will not be able to use Stripe to renew their Pass or sign up for another one. Manga Planet stated that there may be issues when affected Passes are canceled.

I'm so happy to finally be able to enjoy 'Blue Comet SPT Layzner' and in HD quality nonetheless, sometimes I have to pinch myself when I realize we can now buy entire seasons of classic anime for under $75 when that used to be the price of 2 VHS tapes in the 90's. You may remember that this mid-80's title was suppose to be released here in the states in the early 2000's and was eventually cancelled. So glad to see DiscoTek bring it out and so very happy to be able to purchase it directly from you and your dedicated team! Also wanted to say thanks for the small plastic anime characters that were included in the box, they are very cute and I thought it was a nice gesture. Thanks Again for everything!"

Benjamin is an old timer Anime fan like me and remembers when Anime was actually expensive to buy (like $10-$15 an episode expensive). ;-) Really appreciate the kind words Ben. Thanks for all of your support over the years!

After warping light-years away from Earth, the spacecraft Macross carries a city of civilians and soldiers back home. They continuously fight off the threat of the Zentradi and Meltrandi, giant alien races with whom humanity wages war.

During a battle, the Macross transforms into a mecha operated by fighter pilot Hikaru Ichijou. Thrust into a number of hardships, Hikaru grows close to the city's idol Minmay Lynn. As their relationship develops, however, it is viewed unfavorably by others due to Minmay's status and popularity. With war raging on and the state of Earth unknown, Hikaru and his fellow soldiers fight on against their mysterious enemies. Throughout the bloodshed, Hikaru and Minmay attempt to keep hold of their feelings for one another. Minmay pours her heart into her music, which may just turn out to be the key to finding peace.
