For some reason I thought daylight savings was this weekend, but it's not until March 10th this year. I think the extra day in February along with all these new books coming in is throwing off my internal calendar...

I've got quite a bit of news and updates to pass on this week, so scroll on down for that and all the new Anime and Manga arrivals we have in stock for you to puruse this weekend!

PREORDER PROCESSING

We have been getting quite a few multi-item pre-orders lately. Most of these orders are pretty straight forward, but I wanted to reiterate again how we handle processing and billing for these.

If an order is placed with multiple pre-orders and there is no request to hold ship or other instructions included, we will process and ship those items to you separately as they arrive. We will assume you want each release as soon as it becomes available. That said, we will still try to process items with release or arrival dates that are close together into the same shipment. Remember, releases often arrive in our warehouse either earlier, or sometimes later, than the official release date. You can specify in the comments section of your order how you would like us to group your pre-order shipments if you have any particular preferences.

If you request a 'hold ship complete' for your order, we will bill the entire order at the time the first item becomes available and gets set aside. That allows us to create a stack for you in our order staging area and add items to it as they arrive until everything is ready to ship together. This is important when we might be holding your order to collect materials for a couple of months - we want those limited editions and such to be physically added to your order stack as soon as they come in. If an unexpected billing date is a concern, you can specifically request that we bill the order immediately, or bill the order once all items are available to ship.

Multi-item pre-orders that use super saver or free shipping will automatically be treated as 'hold ship complete' orders.

Remember, unlike just about every other store out there, we do actually read the comments you leave on the orders when they are processed. If you have any questions about how we handle pre-order processing, just let us know. If we have questions, we'll do the same. :-)

ODDS and ENDS

Someone asked me this week if we would be getting a Food Wars The Fifth Plate Premium Boxed Set and a Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? III Season 4 Premium Boxed Set, and if so when? I have not heard anything specific from Sentai as to when they might be coming, but I think they will release them this year assuming they find the resources. I've been a little worried about Sentai because their parent company AMC isn't exactly doing great financially. We'll just have to wait and see.

The Paprika Steelbook Edition (Limited Edition) 4K HDR/2K BLURAY came and went this week. We sold out our initial order shipment in about 2 days. So did the big box retailers. Just had no idea there would be so much demand for this release, but then again, neither did Sony or they would have made more. I have information that we 'might' have access to another batch sometime between now and the end of March, so if they do pop up I'll bring in as many as we can get ahold of.

Discotek, the new kings of FOMO, dropped another block of titles they are letting go out of print. Titles like Black Jack The Movie, Caligula, Cyborg 009, Elemental Gelade, Kemono Friends, Law of Ueki, Magical Girl Ore, To Be Hero and To Be Heroine and Yowamushi Pedal. Most of them are already sold out here at RACS - you know, they put the word out on Reddit or Twitter (X) and our remaining inventory vanishes within hours. Rinse, repeat. We do still have limited inventory of the two Konosuba Steelbooks, the Mitchiri Neko Blu-ray, and the Mon Colle Knights (English Dub) Blu-ray - for now. They also mentioned that Lupin the 3rd: Part 5, Chargeman Ken, Video Warrior Laserion, and the two Grimm's Fairy Tale BD's MIGHT be going OOP soon or might be let go during the course of 2024. Considering Chargeman Ken JUST came out in November... naaaa, I'm not gonna say it.

Discotek also announced this morning that they they will not be releasing any new Anime titles in April, but will be somewhat making up for it in May with 8 new releases. They cited replicator delays for the lack of April releases, but no one else is having that problem so more going on with them than has been revealed I think. May releases will include Digimon Season 2 BD, Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple: The Attack of Darkness BD, IGPX on BD, a Belladonna of Sadness 4K Combo Pack, Lightspeed Electroid Albegas, Chie the Brat, and two live action titles. We'll get those up on the store for pre-order as soon as we get the release information from Discotek.

STORE STUFF - WHAT'S NEW @ RACS THIS WEEK!!

Lot's of new Anime arrivals to talk about this week!

Yesterday, we got in the Akiba Maid War BLURAY early from Sentai, and it is now shipping. Pre-order shipments will be completed today.

Discotek's Feb releases arrived on time this month, in fact, they came in a day early! They are all currently in stock including the Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure BLURAY, Extreme Dinosaurs Complete Series BLURAY, Hand Maid May Complete Collection BLURAY, Puss 'N Boots Around the World BLURAY, and the Rainbow Complete TV Series BLURAY. All pre-orders for these have now shipped out. Dual and Hand Maid May are in highest demand, but for now, we still have limited stock of both in the warehouse.

Both versions of the Suzume BLURAY/DVD, RWBY: Ice Queendom BLURAY, and the The Legendary Hero Is Dead! BLURAY are now in stock and shipping. Just a reminder that a week from now Crunchymation's old distributor will stop filling retailer orders and the move to SPHV won't be completed until mid-April, so there is going to be about a four week blackout period where retailers will not have access to Crunchymation restocks. The One Piece Season 13 Part 6 DVD/BD Combo Set (Uncut) (Eps # 843-854) will be the last release we get in from the old distributor (that one should be in next week). I expect there to be some catalog stock-outs during this period, but we have already brought in extra inventory of their key releases, so hopefully that whole process will be transparent to you. At least here at RACS. ;-)

Manga new arrivals this week were on a whole new level - we got in 4 separate shipments for about 65 new books total! Notable new arrivals include Rent-A-Girlfriend Vol #23, This Is Screwed Up, But I Was Reincarnated as a Girl in Another World Vol #11, Murcielago Vol #23, Ima Koi : Now I'm in Love , Vol #9, My Hero Academia Vol #37, Blade of the Moon Princess Vol #3 and many more!

And finally, I just wanted to remind everyone that we still have a few of the Spy x Family Part 2 DVD/BLURAY (Limited Edition)'s left in stock. This set is getting low stock in distribution and comes with some really cool stuff, so if you have had your eye on it you should probably pull the trigger pretty soon.

Deadline reported that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Hashira Training-, the theatrical screening of the one-hour first episode of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc television anime and the final episode of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc, earned US$5.5 million on its opening day in the United States on Friday plus preview screenings on Thursday. It estimates that the film will make a total of US$10.8 million in the U.S. this weekend. Variety also estimates the film will earn more than US$10 million in its debut weekend, with an estimate it will rank at #2 for the weekend.

Jujutsu Kaisen took seven slots in the list of the Top 20 best-selling manga, based on Circana (formerly NPD) BookScan data for January 2024 (12/31/23 – 2/3/24). In the case of Jujutsu Kaisen, it may be the lack of anime that’s giving the series a push. The second season of the anime ended at the end of December 2023, and no date has been given for the third season. The anime adapted the story through the “Shibuya Incident” arc, which ends in Vol. 16. So anyone anxious to find out what happens next would have to buy the manga, and the volumes on the chart are indeed Vols. 16-21 (plus the obligatory Vol. 1).

Vol. 13 of Chainsaw Man topped the chart for the second month in a row, and right behind it is Vol. 8 of Solo Leveling, a January release. The much-anticipated Solo Leveling anime premiered in January as well. At number 4 is Vol. 9 of Kaiju No. 8, which will be getting an anime adaptation later this year.

The two foreign nationals who were arrested earlier this month for allegedly posting images of manga from Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine faced new accusations on Sunday by the Kumamoto and Niigata prefectural police's joint investigation unit. This time, the suspects are also accused of posting images of manga from Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine online before their scheduled publication. One of the suspects, 36-year-old Samir Musa, reportedly runs the limited liability company Japan Deal World, which sells manga-related goods in Tokyo's Kita Ward. Musa reportedly purchased the magazines from a distributor. According to the police investigation, the two suspects posted image data of popular manga serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine online, without permission and before the issues' official release, on September 3 and again on January 13. The suspects are also suspected of violating copyright law by reproducing the image data five days before their formal release date in January. According to NHK's report, Musa has admitted to the new accusations.

In an interview with technology news website The Verge on its Decoder podcast, Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini revealed that the company is working to offer users migrating from the soon-to-shut-down Funimation app to Crunchyroll with "an appropriate value" of compensation for their digital copies, which Crunchyroll does not support. Crunchyroll has not specified how exactly it will compensate users "an appropriate value" to their Funimation digital copies. Funimation provided digital copies as part of some home video DVD or Blu-ray Disc purchases.

Bandai Namco Filmworks announced that it will make anime studio 8-Bit into a wholly owned subsidiary as of April 1. The management structure at 8-Bit will remain unchanged. 8-Bit was founded in September 2008 and has its main studio in Tokyo. The studio has produced such anime as: Infinite Stratos, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (second season), Encouragement of Climb, The Fruit of Grisaia, Rewrite, Stars Align, Aquarion Evol, Tokyo Ravens, Absolute Duo, The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor Arc, Blue Lock, Synduality: Noir, and The magic at irregular high school: Reminiscence Arc, among others.
