Store Stuff, News, and Tab Clearing
Couple of bullet list items to pass on this week.
First, I have been in contact with the folks at Media Blasters and have been told that the
Ladies vs. Butlers BLURAY edition (the DVD edition is already in stock) will be ready to ship around the middle of December, so if you still have a pre-order open for it just hold on a little longer.
NISA let us know last week that their license for the first season of Wagnaria expired at the end of November and they have no plans to renew. That means the current
Wagnaria!! (Working!!) Season 1 Complete Collection DVD Set (Standard Edition) is now officially discontinued and out of print, so whatever we have left in the warehouse will be it. Get em
while they last!
I'm glad to see the recently released Girls und Panzer movie doing well in Japan, though it is a little disconcerting to realize that this was probably done in place of a second season. Still keeping my figures crossed on that though. Movie trailer
here - can't wait to see this!
And finally I wanted to mention that we're now up to
Salvo #8 in our Barrage of Bargains holiday sale, and some of the items that we put up in the earlier salvo's are starting to sell out and are coming off the sale pages. Sale prices will be good thru Dec 24th, but remember a lot of the sale items won't be available at that price for that long as they run out. Just a heads up, so if you miss anything don't say I didn't tell you! -_^
Friday Night Figures Unboxings
The boys at Friday Night Figures are at it again! They recently got around to unboxing their copies of the
Black Lagoon Limited Edition boxed set, and have put up a couple of great videos, so be sure to check them out
here and
here!
I'm so jealous of these guys, I mean come on gals, they are so damn good looking! :-) Their
coupon offer (gotta watch the video) by the way, is actually good through the 6th of December so you can still take advantage! -_^
Media Blasters In House Replication Dust-Up
James wrote in this week to ask my opinion of the recent dust-up regarding Media Blasters doing in house pressing on DVD-R, and I wanted to share that conversation:
"Bob,
There are reports on the anime forum I use that Media Blasters have been using dvd-r's instead of regular dvd's there is a boycott from every one on the forum for Media Blasters now I just wanted your opinion before I bought any thing from them...
-James"
"James,
From what I understand Media Blasters acquired a Rimage system a few months ago to facilitate doing in house replication and printing of their DVD releases. I think sell through on many of their titles is now so low that it is no longer cost effective for them to press or repress disks in quanties of even a few hundred units and expect to keep their titles (in particular the Kitty catalog) in stock for reorder. They went a couple of years trying to follow the traditional replication model, but could only afford to have a few titles repressed every month, causing a good portion of their catalog to be perpetually out of print, so they decided that they were going to go to a sort of in house 'print on demand' model for retailer fulfillment. I know every time we order restocks from them whatever they didn't already have laying around they will now make for us on an as needed basis. It usually only delays our shipments a couple of days.
I think this move also allowed them to no longer use outsourced warehouse space at TRS since they would no longer have to store vast amounts of unsold DVD units. Given the state of the industry and MB's business (niche) in particular, I think this makes a lot of sense, but it does give the issue that some of their disk releases will now be pressed as DVD-r's. Sony does this on a larger scale with a few of their releases, and other big publishers also are moving a number of low volume titles to a 'print on demand' model (and in the grand scheme almost every Anime release is considered 'low volume' now as far as the entertainment industry is concerned), so I think as long as MB's quality control on the pressings is good and they are priced accordingly, I'm not opposed to it. I suppose being on this end of the business and seeing how low the national sell through on some of these titles really is now (some Anime releases from indy's like MB or Discotek are lucky to sell 500-1000 units - ever), I think John's new model is more of a 'publish this way or not at all' proposition.
I'm sorry to see Anime fans calling for a boycott over this. That will certainly not help things get any better. I know John has been through a lot to keep that company open and remember last year when he was more than ready to walk away but didn't. I do understand everyone's frustration with this, and I'm not sure if there is a solution that can make everyone happy. It's a tough business.
Anyway, hope this helps, :-)
Bob (aka Robert)"
RACS Chocolate Coins Are Back!
Some Anime stores like to spend their time and money on empty content, but we'd rather spend ours on substance, and now that the weather has started to turn a bit cooler, I'm happy to announced that the RACS Chocolate Coins are back - and this time better than ever!
Made from delicious imported Belgian milk chocolate and embossed with Noemi's cute profile, we will be including them with order shipments beginning this week. This years batch comes in three different foil colors - red, blue, and green, but instead of just a color variation, we've gone a step further with three different flavors as well:
RACS Red = Belgian Milk Chocolate
RACS Blue = Belgian Dark Milk Chocolate
RACS Green = Belgian Dark Mint Milk Chocolate
I just hope we can get these shipped out to you guys and gals before we eat them all. Yum! :-)

New Licenses
A few new manga announcements since the last NL. Kodansha has announced it will release a prequel series to the bestselling Fairy Tail manga in Summer 2016. Series creator Hiro Mashima will draw
Fairy Tale Zero, a series which depicts the founding of the Fairy Tail guild. The story follows Mavis Vermilion, a servant of a guild master and his daughter Zera on Sirius Island. Mavis is mistreated by her masters, but she stays positive because her mother always said fairies never visit people who cry about problems. When the guild is attacked, Mavis saves Zera and they escape into the woods. Several years later, wizards arrive on the island looking for a power gemstone, and encounter the girls.
Seven Seas Entertainment has announced new English licenses for

Customer Corner
Michael writes in this week to tell us about his Black Friday experience at RACS:
"Hello Rob and RACS Crew,
Just wanted to say a big Thank You for your hard work over Thanksgiving weekend. I placed my Black Friday order Thursday night and received it this evening on Cyber Monday! As always it was well packaged and the figure arrived in great shape. The card and chocolate are nice touches as well. And I think I was lucky enough to snag one of the last ones of this figure as when I went to the website to show a friend, it was no longer listed! Anyways, thanks again for working hard for us fans to bring us legit, quality goods at reasonable prices.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, Michael"
No standing in line all night or fighting with other shoppers either. To heck with all that.
Zac also writes in this week to tell us about his first experience with us:
"RACS,
Don't be alarmed, my order arrived without harm. I simply wanted to tell you first hand how impressed I was. The delivery time especially during a peak holiday was outstandingly fast. As a first time buyer I was awfully skeptical. Needlessly to say i'm at a crossroad. I wasn't expecting the level of quality or great shipping that you provided. I've got another order placed and can only hope for the same. If so you've more than earned my respect and trust as a continued customer. Thank you every so much.
Sincerely, Zac"
And then Zac wrote in again to tell us about his second experience:
"RACS,
I just wanted to respond back and say i'm astonished and impressed. My second order arrived today which I wasn't expecting at all. Your shipping times are remarkably fast. Even the boxing is great. My second order though the box it's self was rather heavily damaged, but the contents were sound. Not a mark on them. In the future I may request writing on the package fragile/handle with care. It's not your fault shipping companies can't handle people's orders with care. Well i'm going to try and convince a friend of mine to try your site out. Sure it won't take to much after he see's all the blu-rays. Again thank your so much.
Sincerely, Zac"
We've been around so long I always wonder how fans can still be skeptical of our commitment to the industry, but hey, I suppose we've been the best kept secret in the Anime business for 18 years - you know with the retro website and the great service and the kooky owner who actually answers everyone's e-mails... -_^
Thanks to both Micheal and Zac for taking the time to write in and let us know how we did - we worked very hard over the holiday weekend and we really appreciate it! :-)
And Finally...
Our
Barrage of Bargains Holiday Anime Sale continues this week, and we now have fired off a full eight salvos of savings with another one coming up very soon! We'll have these coming at you from now until about Dec 18th, each containing around a hundred items we've specially discounted for the holidays.
Sale prices will be good through Dec 24th but will be limited to a certain amount of stock we have set aside for the sale, so don't expect everything to be on sale for the entire time, especially once we hit the peak shipping period a couple of weeks from now. Be sure to
check back often, because we're going to keep the savings coming at ya all season long!! :-)
Robert's Random Thoughts
"Whenever I feel the holiday season blues I just try to remember that we are all nobody to somebody...."

From an epic dance battle between Gray and Cancer, to Lucy trying to escape a sadistic Virgo - it's up to Fairy Tail to save the celestial world from itself.
Part 18 contains episodes 200-212.
Library War is set in an alternate future Japan, where all forms of expression are strictly regulated by the Media Betterment Act. Libraries are the only oases of free thought, which puts them under constant threat by the government's Betterment Special Agencies. The only ones capable of opposing them are the Library Forces, militarized prefectural organizations that protect the content of local libraries for the sake of the people. After a dangerous brush with government forces and salvation by a mysterious "prince," a young girl named Iku Kasahara is inspired to join her local Library Force. Although Iku clearly has the skills, she leaves a lot to be desired in the discipline department: a source of both amusement and irritation to her instructors and squadmates. Balancing harsh training, interpersonal drama, and political intrigues, Iku and her team repel aggression from all those who would seek to threaten the freedom of speech represented by their local libraries. Adapted from Hiro Arikawa's award-winning light novel series, Library War is at once a work of serious speculative fiction, and an ensemble adventure examining the sometimes comedic, sometimes tragic situations faced by a colorful group of young men and women in a near-war situation...
Asuka Tennouji's life looks normal on the outside. Living in Kobe, Japan, the hardest thing he has to deal with is balancing school with working at a restaurant and taking care of his sick mother. With such a peaceful life, it's easy to forget that outside of Kobe, portals to another world have swallowed up major cities and plunged most of Earth into chaos! Called "Black Spots," these portals allow beings of immense power, referred to as "Zillions of Enemy X" or Z/X, to invade Earth. The Z/X use Earth as a battleground to wage a war between each of their worlds--White, Red, Green, Blue, and Black--where it isn't just survival at stake, but their world's very existence! Earth, too, finds itself caught in this struggle, and the only weapon they have to defend themselves is the Card Device: a technology that allows humanity to fight fire with fire by allowing them to capture and control Z/X! With Kobe being one of the last places on Earth where you could forget the conflict with the Z/X, Asuka thought he was safe. But his peaceful life turns upside down when he meets a mysterious girl called the Dragon's Priestess, who claims she has chosen him, and grants him a Card Device. Not long after, an angel, wounded from a fight, descends from the sky and lands in his arms. This is only the beginning, as soon after an army invades Kobe, threatening to destroy its peace forever! Find out what happens in this Z/X Ignition boxed set containing all twelve episodes!!

She knows she's difficult - which makes her better off than Kodoka, a new transfer student who picked up an undeserved bad reputation the second he stepped on campus. In no time, a third member joins their ranks: Sena, a pretty, popular rich girl who annoys Yozora to no end. Every two hundred years, good and evil wage a Holy War. On one side, the Goddess Athena leads her 88 Saints in order to protect the world from destruction. What is true happiness? For Giovanni, the answer is as far away as the stars. Mired in hardship, the young kitten faces problems that should be unknown to someone his age. At school, his classmates mock and ridicule him, and after the bell rings, Giovanni toils at a job to earn enough money for bread. Then at home, instead of being taken care of by his mother, he must take care of her. The sole bright spot is that of the Festival of Stars, where he hopes to run into Campanella, his only friend. When they finally meet up, however, it isn't while looking up at the stars, but rather traveling amongst them... as the Galactic Railroad whisks the two away for parts unknown! Night on the Galactic Railroad is adapted from the novel written by famous Japanese children's author, Kenji Miyazawa. Born in 1896, Miyazawa grew up during a tumultuous time in Japan's history, and his humanist sensibilities feature most prominently in this work. While the movie features delightful cat characters, the symbolism and deeper meaning of the film can touch the young and old alike. This story is one that every child in Japan must experience in school, and now, you can too!

In order to do so, Maria must uncover the Power of Exorcism, which is supposed to have been passed down through his bloodline.
